Sedan Vs. Wagon

I would possibly like to trade in my car for a ford fusion, however, with young kids I usually am hauling kid bikes, push cars, or strollers. Does anyone drive a sedan and find it accessible with that style of trunk? I do not want an SUV due to poor gas milelage and I have been considering a small wagon like the Jetta sportwagon or Subaru outback, however, I can fit 3 car seats in the back of a fusion without difficulty but it is tighter in the wagon style cars. I know I can go to a dealer and try out the trunk space with my items but first I thought I would throw it out to this community.

What can I do next?

As your kids age they will demand more room, leg room, elbow room, etc....go for the larger/wider vehicle. If you think about it a van seems to be the perfect vehicle for you, that 3rd row is very necessary for growing kids. If you get the longer one where the back glass is NOT against the back of the rear seat.

I wanted a larger SUV but hubby said no due to the gas mileage. I am glad now. I love my van because the kids can sit far apart and be comfortable. They are 7 and 10.

I have four boys. We have a 2010 Honda Odyssey. I'm thinking we need a Suburban.

I can't see us in a sedan. Tyler has a Durango. So smaller cars are not in our "family".

With THREE car seats? I would go for a Minivan or a Suburban. The kids are ONLY going to get bigger and need more room.

I have a Chrysler Pacifica and I LOVE it. They don't make them anymore, but the Chevy Traverse I believe is similiar. Or the new KIA Sorrento's.
Third row passenger seats, where the back can lay flat for trunk space.
We downsized from a minivan to the pacifica and found one with really low mileage, and very clean. I absolutely love it. Not bad on gas either!! You just have to shop around for them!

We have a sedan and a wagon. They both can haul a lot. The wagon is a better for taller items. The sedan is a bit wider in the trunk area and has a more spacious interior. The seats fold down in both to haul longer/larger items when I don't have the kids with me.

Your children are going to grow and need more space beside hauling around strollers there will be sports equipment and friends. Groceries and camping are other things to consider as well as trips with comfort.

Get the wagon or minivan. The minivan would probably be the best bet. We had an old Ford van and that thing was huge but it hauled us and everything else we needed around the country and half way around the world.

We now have a larger sedan but it has room to carry much and we are happy with her at 23 years of age (new when we bought). It is time to replace her and we can't agree on a car or a van or a truck or whatever.

I owned a sedan and a sports coupe with kids. The sedan is the way to go. Mine had a huge truck. That was a long time ago so please check and see what will work for your family.
