Don't rush it, it will take LOTS of time from what I have heard. With my 3 boys I had all C-Sections.
Thanks, V. J.

Okay so I am probably jumping the gun, but I had a question for mom's out there wth two babies...i am 37 1/2 weeks pregnant and at my appointment on Wednesday I was dilated to 2 cm. Wiht my first child I never made it that far on my own and was induced on my due date. I am very anxious to deliver this little one and I was wondering if anyone had thoughts on how quickly I would progress. I have been having a ton of braxton hicks contractions and last night I started very strong "real contractions, but only couple of hours. ANy thoughts???

Hi M.,
With my second I was dialated to a 3 for six days and then went into labor. I am not an advocate of inducing, so with that said, try some natural ways as suggested in the other posts. My friend went into labor with both of her children after a pedicure. I was so freaked out that it worked the second time, I would not get a pedicure until after my lil' one was here. I guess that is a relaxing way to start labor up and running. Good luck.

I'm sorry to tell you that it is possible to walk around at 2cm for weeks. I have heard that lots of walking and lots of sex will do the trick!! Wouldn't know- didn't have a chance to try either-I was induced the first time around and the second was 5 weeks early!
just another amen, sorry! I was at a 2 at 33 wks and stayed there until like 37 when I went to a 3. I had about a 4-5 hour induced labor on my due date-well, 39.5 wks. I too was very frustrated! Hope it doesn't happen this time! I am 28 weeks.
Hi M.!
I went through the same thing with my first. My contractions actually started at 32 weeks and I was 2 cm dialated. They put me on a treatment and bed rest to prevent early delivery but just as you, at 37.5 weeks I started having false and real contractions with no real pattern or consistency.
The night before Emily was born, I had no contractions at all. The next morning I felt kinda funny - like my whole abdomen was tight - but no contractions. I figured it was my last chance to go shopping and so I went out and as I was out what felt like Braxton hicks just kept building and building. I called my husband and OBGYN and had them meet me at the hospital. WHen they checked me in I was 4 cm dialated and was 8 cm dialated an hour later. An hour after that my daughter was born.
If you are already 2 cm dilated, the contractions you're feeling might be "real" and they might not fall into regular patterns. Mine did not become regular until right before I went to the hospital and by that point I was halfway there.
With both of my girls, I was dilated 3 cm for 2 weeks and NOTHING! My first was born 10 days overdue! I was 6 cm when I got to the hospital. With my second, I had a "convenience induction" the day before her due date and was 3 cm.
Good luck to you! I hope it all works out the way you want it to!

You need to do what works for you. However, once the 2nd one arrives you won't be getting much rest so you might want to take advantage of the extra time now. But, again it is personal preference!
With my older daughter I was not dilated at all at my 39 week apt. She was born on her due date after 4 hours of labor (barely made it to the hospital). I was dilated to 3 cm for 3 weeks with my younger daughter & she was born after 2 hours the day after her due date. With both I never had any contractions until the real ones but once they started it was non-stop.
Don't laugh but with both my girls the last meal I had was eggplant parmigan. Eggplant as a natural ingredient that mimics one of the hormones you need to go into labor. Worked for me both times. Also lots of walking & sex (if you can still get comfortable)...
Good luck!
I agree there is no way to tell. I was a 3 with my son for two weeks. At my 38 week appointment I told my dr if he told me I was a 3 one more time I was going to hurt someone! LOL He said "nope .. now you are a 4!" He stripped my membranes ..and 36 hours later I had my son.
With my daugher I went 3 weeks early .. I knew I was dilated to a 2 but I didn't expect her to come so early! Thankfully she was perfect!
I agree, I was one of those people that dialated very slowly over the course of 4 weeks. Went in to be induced 5 days before my due date because I was 6, yes 6 cm dilated and not in active labor. But we'll keep our fingers crossed for you that you'll get what you want - are you sure you're ready for all those sleepless nights? :-) Best Wishes
On my first son, I was dilated to 2 cm on one of my appts and they went ahead and induced me...I was term though. I had my second one induced too, because I didn't wanna have some accident somewhere like the grocery store, work, etc. That way I was able to plan ahead, etc. My second one was due like Jan 15th, or maybe the 7th, and I had him on New Year's Eve. The Doc was trying to have him come on Dec 30th, which is when I was induced, but I was in labor for 18 hours, so it ended up being New Year's Eve!! If you're all excited about doing this, and want to get it over with, I would maybe talk with your doc about possibly inducing. That's just my $.02.

Hi M.,
My first born I was 2 cm dilated for 1 1/2 wks and then was induced because i was already in the hospital due to early labor and had him 16 hrs later and my youngest son I had the "bloody show" and was dialated at 5am and then at 1pm I had an epideral and then at 4pm I was dilated to a 10 cm but had to have an emergency c-section.
So, In that note it can happen. I would not stress or rush over it, You have all the time in the world and I know you are anxious but relax and sleep as much as you can cause this will be your last chance you can at least for a long while.
Good luck and god bless you and your precious little angels.
