We have renters that never clean their stoves. We have used TSP( trisodium phosphate ) that and a lot of elbow grease usually does the trick. You can find it at Home Depot or Lowe's. Hope this helps!
Good Morning Mammas,
I am in desperate need of a good cleaner for our stove. It is about 5 years old and I admit that I have not kept up on it. Over the past week, I have tried a combination of cleaners. I started off with a magic eraser. Then the next day I used a comet mixture, which was recommended by my mother. Finally, I tried spic and span. I used a toothbrush with the comet and the spic and span. Trust me it is cleaner now than it has been in years, but the two burners we use most of the time still have buildup around them. Please tell me someone knows of a magic solution. Some info on the stove: it has a white top, black burners and a black top where the digital panel is located. I am assuming it is made out of steel and it runs off of natural gas.

I have a friend who had a spot on her flat top stove that she had tried everything on (including what the manufacturer suggested) without any success. I took over Shaklee's Get Clean Scour Off and it took it off immediately. She began to go around her house and look for other things that she couldn't get clean before because it worked so well. Get Clean is non-toxic and safe for your family too (unlike traditional chemical cleaners that are linked to allergies, asthma, learning disabilities and even cancer). Get Clean is also one of Oprah's "Favorite Things" and she has featured them on her "Green" shows many times. If you are interested in learning more or have any questions, please let me know. I would love to help.
Good luck!
Try Soft Scrub. It usually does the trick for us.
To clean my stove, I have always used just a basic cleaning prodcut like Clorox clean up(but i have also used windex or simple green) spray it really really good so there is a very wet coat of solution on it...LET IT SIT... for about 15 mins..(if your build up is that bad, you may need to let it sit for the 15 mins, come back and respray the solution and let it sit for another 15 mins) Then use an SOS pad to scub off the build-up and use a toothpick to get it good in the corners You will need a little bit of elbow grease, but the longer you let it sit with the wet solution, the easier it will be.
It took 5 years to build it, you wont be able to get it off with one miracle spray and one wipe.
p.s. check the pilot lights when you are done to make sure thye didnt blow out
Good luck!!
Wow...thanks momma's, imma have to try those myself!...also, I love using awesome(its only $1 @ family dollar)!...it works wonders on grease build up!!..you gotta spray it on and let it sit, come back wit a sos pad and bam, clean as new!..good luck with that one ma!...I know the feeling of tackling a dirty stove!!

I love Easy Off oven cleaner. I use it in the oven, on the racks, drip pans... I don't see why you couldn't use it on the stove top but I'd double check the label & maybe even try it on a hidden spot to make sure it doesn't bother the paint or something. But I LOVE it. It does a great job.
Something that is very old but it really is the best cleaner for everything from your stove to the bathtub is Bar Keepers Friend. My grandparents used to use it on their copper pots but I have used it on everything. It gets things clean that I wouldn't think would ever come clean. My friends child actually ate it and of course she called poison control and they told her it was made of natural ingredients so it was safe. Good luck!
STEAM ! Steam cleaners that emit high pressure do the trick so fast you'll wonder why you ever spent all that time scraping and scraping.
Hi, M.! I have a gas stove, and I've always used baking soda with a little bit of water to make a thick paste. If it has an area with food that is burned on, I let the past sit on it for a while, then scrub it off. It works! Happy scrubbing!
VINEGAR is a GREAT cleaner and SOS pads. I have NO need for ANYTHING else and.......NO CHEMICALS!
I don't own one myself but I borrowed a Steam Shark when my white stove top got like that. I admittedly need to do it again, but after using cleaner after cleaner, the Steam Shark got it cleaner that it had ever been. And the best part of it is, it's just steam!
Good luck! E.
Hi M. for the top of the stove I use a degreaser and for the oven the one from the Dollar store is the best for me. I also get my degreaser from the Dollar store and they work miracles.
