Hi,
I would like to set up saving accounts for my children. Is there any financial institution in Austin that caters to children trying to begin saving and learning the benefits of it?
T..
We did it last Saturday. We have opened accounts for kids in one of union credit banks. The first, we are members of it, so it will be easy to make any transactions. In addition, their offer seemed to be more interesting than other two banks we had checked. Thank you very much for your responses.

My husband and I have had a savings account through ING Direct for many years and started one for our daughter before she was born. We have been really happy with them. ING Direct is primarily online, but it has been easy to save with them. You link your local account to the ING account and can transfer money to and from. I don't believe there is any limit on number of accounts you open (we have 5 so far) and there is no minimum balance. Right now the APY on a savings account is 3.00%. Anytime I have needed to talk to a person, there was no waiting when I called the 800 number and they were always helpful (and easy to understand!). It is super easy to set up an account and takes little time. This is the main site: http://home.ingdirect.com/
And I found this page that is directed to kids:

Good Luck!

We use A+ credit union. My kids are older now but they have always done incentives for the kids making deposits and have other contests throughout the year. They also have a teen account that you shift to as your kids get older.
My elementary school aged daughters were offered a good deal through A+ Federal Credit Union, where a rep from the bank is on campus once per week to accept deposits. We don't even have to go to the bank. They give the kids little treasure chest type prizes (pencils, etc.) as rewards for putting money in the bank.
I went to the A+ Federal Credit Union on Wm Cannon. We opened a regular savings account and then they helped her with a CD that will make her some money as well. We got a packet that holds her paper work and it had a cool pencil in it my daughter liked.
I've found that just about any credit union is more kid-friendly than most banks when it comes to savings accounts. Whichever one is most convenient for you and the kids would be your best bet. We've been treated well by both University Federal CU and Capital CU.
Hi There-
That is awesome that you and your kids are thinking about your future. I have a 5 yr old, 3 yr old, and a 3 month old.
We have 529 plans set up for them for college. My husband and I have a financial services business together that we have been doing for almost 10 years now. I would be happy to get you information about the different options avaliable to you. We also have a book/pamphlet for kids to look through and read to learn about how money works. Let me know if I can be of assistance to you.
Thanks.
