Hi Mamasource Moms :)
I'm hoping u could send me some ideas for an upcoming Santa party (next Saturday already). I'm in charge of the activities and games and have not a clue.. I'm having a brain cramp. I've actually never been to a Santa party. There will be children ages 12 and under attending. So far 20 kids are coming. Anything you can share would be so greatly appreciated.
Also, we were thinking something easy to eat for lunch to be served and I thought, pizza. What kid doesn't like pizza?! Any other suggestions out there??

Thanks soo much and Happy Holidays!! :o)
M.

Pin the nose on the snowman or pin the angel/star on the tree or something like that.

Hot "potato" but use something Christmas related

Musical chairs with Christmas music

A station to "decorate" sugar cookies or gingerbread house

Crafts - maybe doing the scissors and snowflake project, or just making trees and then having a bunch of different things (pieces of paper/"bling") to decorate tree with.

Maybe do something charitable and ask people to bring in a donation for toy drive and have the kids write a letter to their parent's what they are thankful this season.

good luck

I have never been to a Santa Party - but games you could play are Chritmas Bingo (found at Toy Town in Batavia ) Another fun game is to paly a version of hot potatoe with something Christmas to hold and Christmas music in the back round. I use a Penguin Beanie baby when we play. I also think Kids Bop has a holiday Cd - kids seem to like that. Pizza for lunch is always a good choice. You could also make gingerbread man cookies and set up a deocrating area. Or buy them - I saw them at Fresh Market - undecorated . Good luck with what ever you do - sounds like a fun party.

Hi -
Something we did for a classroom holiday party last year was make "gingerbread" houses. We used graham crackers (split in half so that they were all the same size square shape) and frosting (spread with a popsicle stick so they each could have their own and it was in the school so we couldn't use knives anyway!). Then we had all kinds of fun things to accent with like pretzels (any shape), M&M's, chocolate chips, really anything can be used. I happened to have everything already split up into individual baggies because of the time limit we had and and it made it easier for everyone to work in their own spot (on a paper plate), plus then if they didn't want to eat it, they could take it home in the same bag (gallon size). Anyway - it was a huge hit and you wouldn't believe how many different designs everyone had. Good Luck - and remember - the kids will have fun no matter what - they never critique as hard as we do!

I gave the same advice yesterday (: I think candy houses are a great all age activity. You will need a small milk carton for everyone (ask your local school to save them) Make sure to wash them out because if you don't they will smell. You give the kids lots of frosting(works like glue) and tons of candy and let them go!! You can use green sprinkles for grass, marshmallows for snowmen, whatever you can think of!
Have fun!!
I am also a mother of twins (almost four).

Try a simple craft like a reindeer puppet made out of a brown lunch bag and have them trace their hands as the antlers. Have the eyes and nose ready for them to glue. Googly eyes are fun. You can add a scarf made from construction paper

Pass the parcel is a good game. take a small gift and wrap it up. in layers of wrapping. inside each layer put another small treat, candy or something small that will slip into the wrapping easily. The children pass the parcel around to music like musical chairs. Every time the music stops, the child holding the parcel gwets to take off a layer of wrapping and can have the treat inside that layer...

My little guy is only 15 months so we have a long way to go before we get to go to a Santa party but I was thinking maybe decorating an ornament. You can buy the plastic balls at a craft store and have them glue on sequence or some other fun stuff. I think I still have one that I made from when I was small. Or what about making pipe cleaner snowflakes. Pipe cleaners come in all shades of colors. Have a great time whatever you do !

you can make reindeer food for the kids to take home or you can make it a craft that they put together. here is what you attach to it.

Sprinkle on the lawn at night
The moon will make it sparkle bright
As Santa's reindeer fly and roam
This will guide them to your home
