Sand Embedded Swim Suit

So we just got back from the beach and my daughters swim suit has sand embedded in it. I've tried washing it, shaking it, soaking it. Nothing works there is still sand embedded in it. The rash guard shirt is one thick layer, but the bottom is 2 layers so I'm probably out of luck with the bottoms. Any ideas on how to get the sand out? Thanks,

What can I do next?

We had the same thing happen at Bear Lake last summer. I actually posted the same question on here. I really did find anything that worked. The swimming suit still has sand in it. I think it has started to get better over time. She just wears it how it is for when we are just swimming in the backyard or beach (don't want to ruin another!) Good Luck!!! I will be curious to see if you get any good ideas on your post.

I don't know where you bought the suit, but the same thing happened to us when we went to Hawaii. I simply sent it back to the company (LL Bean) and told them I wanted a new one. They sent me a new one, no questions asked.

I would cut it (close to the seam probably would be best), get the sand out, then sew it back together.

I like the sending it back option if the company is willing, otherwise, cutting is the way to go. If you can make a small slit, and then I would leave it open if you are going to go to the beach or other sandy areas often. I remember the crouch of bathing suits catching all the sand when I was little, but that crouch liner wasn't sewed on the back and you could turn it inside out. I guess they didnt' think through their design all the way...the company may be interested in knowing about this issue too.

I found you can sometimes scrape it out. Lay the suit on a table and then take something firm like a ruler and scrape it along the suit. Hopefully that will work for you.

I have totally had the same problems with swimming suits. It is surprising to me to hear that companies will take back swimming suits that have been worn. This won't solve your sand in the suit problem, but when we were living in So Cal, I bought a cheap suit for my daughter from Walmart and designated that her beach suit and her cute ones were only for the pool. Best of luck getting the sand out. I have tried everything.
