Can anyone recommend Methodist Hospital or St. Lukes (both in San Antonio med center) for labor and delivery? What they offer, how they were treated, ect? I'm trying to decide which hospital would be better. Thanks for your help!!!!

We had both of our girls at Methodist and loved it. The nurses were wonderful and we spent the extra $ to stay in the 10 South suite for my postpartum recovery. If that is an option for you, I would highly recommend it. If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to answer.
Good luck and happy gestating!

My doctor only delivered at St. Lukes Baptist Hospital in the Med Center. I thought the staff was wonderful and the hospital itself is very clean. I have had friends that have delivered at Methodist and they did not have any complaints either. I do not think you will go wrong with either choice. Good luck!

I delivered at St. Luke's in September. The staff was great, the L&D room was nice...but the hospital lacks Wi-Fi, the Post-partum room was TINY and had dirty linens still in it and the prior occupants razor was still in the shower. I like my doc so I will probably have to deliver there again. Had I known I was only going to need to stay one night (my choice) I would have sprung for the VIP suite. What I really liked was that they respected my wishes...I delivered without drugs, requested that my son stay with me the ENTIRE time (he only went to the nursery for his pedi exam & hearing exam), they delayed eye drops for the first hour, left us time to bond, bathed him in my room a few hours after he was born...they gave in to all of my wishes, that was worth everything to me!

i delivered at st luke's. they were excellent. very nice and attentive. the delivery room was HUGE, so me, hubby MIL and midwife pushed at one end, while my son and FIL were at the other end in the recliner and we had plenty of room. FIL took son down the hall to family lounge when he needed to move around, and we were all fine. i delivered on good friday and had to stay thru easter monday. we were treated very well. a very attentive nurse saw blue around my dtr's lips and ran her blood Oxygen, called the Ped and had it tested and monitored. she was fine, but we had to stay a little longer. Better safe than rush back to hosp on easter!
good luck!

Hi K.,

I personally would recommend St. Lukes. I haven't experienced Methodist, but I had 2 c-sections at St. Lukes. I had a lot of pain after my 2nd due to air trapped in my abdomen. I had never been treated with so much care and compassion at a hospital. I wanted my 4 yr old daughter to see me before I went in to have my son, but my MIL had went to the wrong hospital. They already took me back to prep for surgery when my daughter arrived. The staff went ahead and let my husband bring her back to see me. I will always go to St. Lukes for anything. Every room is private at no extra charge. Great Staff!

Best of luck choosing!

I delivered at St. Lukes and loved it! The Nurses were awesome, the whole experience was excellent. My doctor has priviledges at both hospitals and he told me from the beginning to choose St. Lukes-once you go Baptist you don't go back!

Don't know anything about St.Lukes, but I had all 3 of mine in methodist. I had good care and any problems were not with the actual hospital or staff. If anything, they were overly cautious. I was treated well.
