Hi moms, We have noticed that our ice coming from freezer ice machine is very salty. So salty we have not been able to use it. We do have a water filter and sofener system. It does use salt, but I think the water would taste salty and it does not. If anyone has had this happen and some suggestions that would be great!

Thanks a Bunch!

Is it possible that there was an undissolved chunk of salt that got caught in your line to the ice maker? I would see about having that line flushed out if at all possible. Keep dumping the ice until it clears out. In the meantime, you'll have to resort to the old fashioned trays or buy some bagged ice. Hope it doesn't take too long!

I agree it's your line going to the fridge.......you need to get it checked or have hubby drain it as much as he can and see if that helps...........you might also check your refrigerator filter and make sure it's clean or if it needs changed.....

Good Luck and take care

You need to have your water conditioner man come out. It can be one of two things. The filter tank could need to be replaced. Or it could just need a good flushing out. Either way call him asap..

I don't like the ice in our icemaker either. We don't have any systems on our water - so I just turn the icemaker off and dump bagged ice into it. If you do this - one tip - when you bring the bag of ice home and it has started to "sweat" - put it in the freezer in the bag intact. After enough time that it is no longer wet - bang it on the counter or floor (if double bagged) and then dump into the icemaker, otherwise - it will freeze into one big lump in the icemaker. Good luck!
