I work at a Hotel in Hawaii and at least once a month I get a guest that uses Baby's Away and no bad reports so far.
I was just wondering if any of you have used the Baby's Away (baby supply rental) service while traveling? (www.babysaway.com) If you have used them, would you recommend them? Worth the price?
I was considering doing this for an upcoming trip we'll be taking, but wasn't sure if it would be worth it to rent (portable crib in particular, and maybe a high chair). Since we will be flying, I thought it would help lighten our load if we didn't have to pack all these bulky items. I figure hotels will typically have these items, but since we will be staying with family (who do not have kids) we might need these during our trip.
Thanks so much!
Thank you all for your feedback (both positive + negative) on this service! I'm glad to hear that many of you have used (and recommend) this type of service. I have put in an information request to Baby's Away and am waiting to hear back. Hopefully we'll have good luck with them when we travel! :)

Yes, I've used both them and Traveling Baby. I think it's a very, very worthwhile service, as my son sleeps so much better in a full size crib and eats so much better in a high chair. That being said, I think Traveling Baby is better -- they have more modern equipment and provided better customer service. Good luck!
They brought a crib to our house once for a little house guest. It made life much easier. The occasion was a very large home garden wedding and a weekend of related events so having a secure crib was great. Yes it is worth it if that is what you need. They were very nice.

I am not sure if this is the service that my mom-in-law used when we were in Scottsdale 1.5 yrs ago...but it looks very similar when I checked out the website. We found it very useful...we rented a pack-n-play, highchair, exersaucer, some toys etc. We have 3 kids (5,4 & 2) and find that the amount of gear that one has to take to go even on a short vacation is tremendous and this really does lighten the load. When we used the service my youngest was only 5-6mo's or so...all in all we found it great! I found the gear clean and relatively new. But I did find the toys that were rented a bit out of date and some were broken (for instance dolls with limbs or heads off etc.) We would definately use again if needed. Good luck!
I haven't used them yet, but have a few friends that gave me the info and have. They say it's great and they have even used while staying at hotels. (cribs there aren't always the safest) but this way you are sure to have what you need and know it's safe and it's been sterilized for your little one to use. I hope I have helped, we travel a lot with our 21 month old boy, it can be diffcult when you don't have things you depend on. Lucky for us there are things like this to make it a little less stressful. Have a safe and great trip.
I used them while in Hawaii last year. They completely lost my order and then didn't respond until day 4 of our trip to the concierge and my persistant phone calls. Make sure to double confirm with them if you do place an order. They were very apologetic once they finally got back to us...but it was too late as our trip was almost over.
I've used Baby's Away twice and was very pleased both times with their service. The first time was in Chicago when my son was 5 months old. I rented a full-size crib and a swing. The second time was in Maui when my son was 7 months old; I rented a full-size crib and an exersaucer. Both times I rented car seats from Hertz and we brought our own travel stroller. The service was very good. The equipment was delivered and set up before we arrived. I would definitely use them again.
I've used them twice and the equipment is always at the hotel when we arrive and then we just leave it at the front desk when we leave or they come the morning of our departure. It's always been clean and safe. It's nice not to have to haul all of the necessities to keep your baby safe and comfortable.
I used then in HW last summer. It was great. good luck
If your kids are little, be careful about pack n plays and cribs at hotels. Some cribs we have used with faulty drop downs and most just put twin size sheets in there that don't fit that can easily suffocate them. So, bring your own sheets if you plan to use the hotel equipment.
Hi R.-
I'm not sure about that company, and my youngest is 9 so it's been a while, but I have used baby rental company's for a crib, a pack n play, and a highchair. It was wonderful! I was able to pack light, the stuff was extremely, clean, and they picked up and delivered.
Enjoy your trip!
We rented a crib and a highchair for our 16 month old daughter when we had a family vacation in Hawaii with my parents, who rented a house there. They came and set up the crib - which was actually a nice wooden one and gave us 2 sheets. The high chair was clean and in good shape. We were very happy with their service. Now each one is a franchise owned locally, but the one on Oahu sounded like it was mom-owned/operated. You might just want to get in touch with them and see how they sound :-)
Have a good trip :-)
i think you should take that kit with high chair and everything else you will need for your kids its gooda very good idea then worring about having to go purchace at a store its better to tke your things from home and not come back woth with even more stuff.
Hi R.,
I don't have any personal experience with Baby's Away but I do own a similar service here in Orange County called OC Travel Tykes (www.octraveltykes.com). What we hear from our clients is that being able to lighten the load when traveling with little ones is such a relief and makes the trip much more enjoyable when they have all the comforts of home. Our number one rented item is full size cribs which allows baby to sleep better and feel more at home. Of course, when baby sleeps better everyone sleeps better! Anyway, you are more than welcome to email me direct and let me know what city you are staying in as I have a few great companies that I may be able to refer depending on where you are heading. Enjoy your trip!

I don't have any experience with the company you mentioned. When I've gone out of state or country with my kids, I've rented from other companies. I highly recommend renting a high chair or even buying a decent used one on Craigs List after you get to your destination. I've been sorry when I've been without a high chair for more than a couple of days.
Good luck,

Aloha,
Baby's Away is a great company here!! I think it is worth the price, and the person in charge is very nice and will help you out as much as you can! Try to get in touch with them as early as possible, because I know they are very busy here!! They have a couple delivery people and I know a couple of them! I have had great service from them, and their items are very clean, and new!!
Aloha
