Roseola Question

My 13 month old son has Roseola and I was just wondering if anyone else's child has had this. Do you know how long it takes for the rash to go away? Also, is it common for them to be so irritable with Roseola? Its hard for me to tell if its the Roseola or the teething that's making him so cranky. Any suggestions on how to help him would be much appreciated!

My son had it. Typically the fever is the worst part. Once the rash breaks you're in the home stretch. Are you sure it's roseola? Here's a good website:

My daughter is 14 months and she just had it two weeks ago. She was really tired and subdued with the high fevers and then became cranky as the fever broke. The rash only lasted a 2-3 days. With the fever and then a rash she was sick for a total of 1 week. She is completely better now!! Don't worry, the crankiness will go away:-)

My son (who just turned two) got roseola a couple of months ago. With the fever he was pretty cranky and then when recovering from the fever he was tired and cranky, but the day after the rash appeared he seemed to do better.

You seem to have already gotten the answer regarding the timing of the rash. In fact, its probably gone already :) Typically, its 2-4 days. And, yes, it does make them crabby. Wouldn't you be crabby with fever and rash? :)

To speed recovery, and to help them feel better, teas of healing plants like chamomile, catnip, lemon balm, etc, are very effective.

Hope he is much better now!
