My husband has always been wonderful, but since the arrival of baby #2, he's gone above and beyond the call of duty as far as caring for the house, our children, and me. I've got some special treats planned, but would love to start with a card that has a poem in it and I'm just not a poem writer... Can any of you share your favorite love poems (or just the URLs if they're online)? I'm looking for something that speaks tenderly of love and gratitude, preferably that doesn't rhyme (just don't love rhyming poetry...). Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I love the ee cummings poem! Nicole - thank you for the original! I especially love the ending.

I know you don't like rhyming poems but that's all I can seem to dig from my brain. Here's one I made for you based on the paragraph above.

My darling dear I always knew
that you were quite the find,
And after all that we've been through
I thought you wouldn't mind,

If I put you above the rest
To glorify your love,
And let you know you are the best
Far beyond and above.

I feel cared for, loved and needed
In all the ways that count,
The domestic call you've heeded
In copious amount.

Each time you clean up something gross
That I would rather not,
My heart does swell and I would boast
I'm glad we tied the knot!

It rhymes, but Shakespeare's Sonnets or Song of Solomon (Song of Songs) from the bible are both good places to try. Some are hot and steamy, some are lighter and funny.

My absolute favorite is Sonnet XVII by Pablo Neruda.
