My baby is 16 weeks old today and he doesn't roll over. When did your babies roll over? Should I be worried?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your comments. Yesterday he finally rolled over from stomach to back! We are still trying to get the other way. I was so excited to see him do it. Thank you all so much!

My daughter was a LATE roller. Actually should could go from stomach to back early (2 months) and then was late on back to stomache (7months). I had the Parents As Teachers organization that was visiting and they were showing me all different ways to help her learn that movement and she refused to, she stuck out her arms and would not let us move her. But as soon as she was ready she rolled over and started to crawl all within a day. Kids work at their own pace. My daughter was an early walker at 9 months so it all goes to show that they will do what they want when they are ready.

Do not be worried at all! This is right about the time when babies start to roll. Both my kids rolled almost exactly at 4 months but not quite. Every baby is different...you will here that a lot and it really isn't that much of a comfort b/c you do want you baby to be doing the "right" stuff...but hang in there. I'm sure he'll start doing it soon. Tips are to give him plenty of tummy time, which he probably hates, and that will help strengthen the neck and core so he'll have the strength to do it. It's easier for kids to roll from their tummy to their back, but both my kids rolled from back to tummy first, so just go with the flow. Another thing to do is show him how to roll over by helping him do it and then showing him a toy that he might have to roll over to get. Just do that a few times each day and eventually he'll get the hang of it. But he's on track, I'm sure, so don't worry!

My baby was a late roller...maybe once here, once there, but it was probably 5 or 6 months before she really got going. Now she's 8 months and I'm still waiting on her to sit up well. She's a late bloomer, like her mommy. No worries...they're all different.

No! Don't be worried. My first rolled over at 3 months, my second at 6, and she is now bored with it and hasn't done much more since the first few days of it.

every child hits their milstones at different times. Do not worry yet. Your pediatrition should ask you is he talking, is he rolling is he walking is he crawling when it is a time that he should be doing it and if you answer no he may consider intervention. At 16 weeks you have nothing to worry about. I have 3 kids and all rolled over at different times.

Congrats on the baby!! Enjoy him, do not rush him it goes to quick.

I am betting your baby rolls soon. My oldest didn't roll until 8 months. My second child rolled at 10 weeks. My third rolled at 4 months. All babies are different and develop at their own speed.

Enjoy your little one!

Dont worry! My child was adopted from a place where he was held a lot and not given a lot of tummy time so the pediatrician called his motor skills delayed at 6 -10 months. He started walking on his first birthday and by his second birthday was evaluated with the gross motor skills of a three year old.

6 months and she's perfectly normal. Just slower hitting the physical milestones at the beginning. she was also a late walker which I thought was just fine.

No, you should not be worried at all. Easier said than done, Huh? :) Just give him lot of tummy time. Today he isn't rolling but that could all change tomorrow. It happens so quickly. Enjoy your baby boy! :)
