Rock Concerts While Pregnant

There is a concert that my husband and I really want to go to at the end of July. I will be almost 8 months at the time. Does anyone have any experience with going to concerts while pregnant. It is an indoor arena, and we are planning on buying tickets for the seated area so I am not having to stand the whole time. I will be discussing it with my OB next time I go, but wanted to get first hand experiences from other mamas who have been to concerts while pregnant. Thanks in advance!

*No bashing please, honest opinions only*

When I was pregnant with my daughter, 18 years ago, we had an 'in' for tickets. That summer we saw, Phil Collins, James Taylor, The Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, The Eagles and drove to Iowa to see Billy Joel & Elton John together. I didn't have any problems at all and most were outdoor arenas.
I wanted to see Aerosmith SOOOOO bad, but they were here 3 days before my due date and we didn't want to risk it. I would have been OK and wish we would have gone, since we still haven't seen them.

Then we saw Billy Joel again, just a couple weeks after she was born. *It has been rescheduled from earlier in the year. The only 'problem' I had was having a glass of wine in the limo and my milk let down. Foolish me, I just wasn't thinking! :-)

I say go for it!

I went to All Good festival, Primus, Ratdog, Phil Lesh and Friends, and several others I can't think of off the top of my head.

At Ratdog I was about 34 weeks and I did have a seat. I def used it. That was the one I couldn't really dance for very long and I got tired easily. I say go for it, have a seat, and be willing to leave if you need to.

When I was pregnant with my daughter in the 80;s I went to Madonna!! I was about 7 months. As long as you have a seat , go in early. Leave early or when most are gone so you do not get bumped. You should be fine! Have fun!

I went to GodSmack around that time :) Just make sure you have cell phones ON each of you at all times, and you can contact each other in case of emergency. Plus, they have ambulances ON SITE just in case you go into labor, but really, go and have fun. Baby will kick and bounce and dance and have good taste in music ;) Just go, enjoy yourself and show that belly proudly!

The only thing I would worry about is if people in front of you stand the whole time so that you can't see anything. Then you have to stand...

Can you get a seat at the very end so that you don't have to walk over people's knees when you have to go to the bathroom?

Be prepared for the baby to kick you like crazy - it'll be loud and he/she will be awake the whole time! Oh, and you might want to bring some cotton balls for your own ears - when I was pregnant, my hearing was SO magnified! Loud noises hurt mine!

I saw Pearl Jam, Prince, and Paul Simon - all during pregnancies (at different stages of pregnancy). I was about due with my second when we saw Paul Simon (indoor venue).

I never thought to ask a doctor about it... I never had any problems.

I have ONE picture of myself when I had NO idea I was pregnant. It's with Rick Springfield who we literally ran into before his show. It's a bad blurry picture--apparently my friend was so jittery she FORGOT how to use her own camera!

I laugh because I was probably two weeks at that point but didn't know it at the time. I didn't know I was pregnant until I was 5 1/2 MONTHS. It's the ONLY picture of me that was taken during that entire time span and it's with RICK SPRINGFIELD! :)

That night I had one VERY strong drink (CRINGE) but only one thank GOD! It was so hot that night I switched to water and had a great time. We joke that our son's first RS show was back in 2006 but he doesn't remember it.

Btw, my son was born on the day Rick's dad died and has a song called "April 24th, 1981" My friend's told him the story and his response was "one soul leaves as another one enters" twenty six years later but it made him happy. He signed a pair of blue baby scrubs for me two weeks after he was born during his show. He handed me the mic so I could tell everyone about my baby since I refused to sing "Don't Talk to Strangers" with him. Going to a show two weeks after delivery is probably harder to do than going pregnant so I say GO and have a great time!

My husband is a metal musician. I went to lots of loud concerts pregnant AND stood the whole time-sometimes near amps right off stage. Even in my last month for some. Three healthy kids! The doctor assured me noise has to be insanely loud to even be audible to baby. Mega loud MIGHT register a muffled sound. Harmless. It depends totally on if you feel like sitting, standing, walking up to far seats in arena etc by then, but the concert itself won't matter.

I'm not sure why you are even asking this question:) Unless the concert is a 2 or more hour drive from your home you should be fine. I went to a couple of concerts when pregnant with my first and it was a fun way to celebrate the last few nights of "freedom" before having a baby. :)

I too went to Jimmy Buffett while pregnant and did whatever I wanted to except drink. Just be sure and get a T-shirt to give to your child when they are teenagers and say you were here before you were born.
It is not like you have to stop living because you are pregnant.

Every concert I have been to, the people in front of us stood the whole time, so be sure to get seats that are at the front of a section so that isn't a problem.

You're not going to hurt the baby, if that's your concern. The only thing to be thinking about is your own comfort, and it sounds like you have.

Have fun!!! It might be a few years before you're able to do this again.

HAHA I asked about this a few years ago when Social Distortion came and I was super preggers.

My OBGYN said it's TOTALLY FINE as long as you're not in the mosh pit!

I called ahead and had make plans for 'special seating'... every place HAS to have handicap accessible 'safe zones' where it's not smoky, not crowded, etc, and yeah no problem, I could have gone there. Great spot too! (I came down with the flu and didn't end up going, but I was going to!)

So yeah, go and enjoy :)

Oh sure, I went to a few shows when I was VERY pregnant. My friends (who were playing the set) sat me up on top of their stacks so that I could get the most noise and stay out of the pit - that was my concern - being knocked around. My daughter (then inside of me) loved it! First, she flipped around and danced and then she fell asleep. She's nearly four years old and requests 'my rock star band' on a fairly regular basis. :-)

My kids are nearly old enough to come to shows with me (ear protection in place, of course). I'm looking forward to showing them some of the ways music can feel.

I went to bars to see bands and went to concerts up til I was 8.5 months pregnant.

I only stayed in the bars for an hour (then outside, then in, etc) to avoid smoke (I would stand by the door in the back or just not stay long) and with venues here, they're smoke free some of them. There is no issues with concerts when you're pregnant...

Now, I wouldn't recommend any mosh pit/stage diving..... ;)

Sending good thoughts your way.

HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!

My husband and I went to see Jimmy Buffett when I had only 1 month left in my pregnancy. This was at the Woodland Pavilion, which is an amphitheater. We had lawn seats, so the hubs stayed right beside me walking up and down the hill in case I slipped. I referred to myself as my own Hawaiian Island in my Hawaiian print shirt. I looked like I had a beach ball under my shirt.

I see nothing wrong with concert going while pregnant. The baby is well in-cased, so sound won't be a problem. It would probably like hearing all the rhythms. Main thing to worry about would be moving around. Make sure you're not being pushed around and be careful climbing steps up and down.

I actually bowled on a bowling league until 4 weeks before my due date. Doc had told me as long as I didn't feel off balance I could bowl as long as I wanted. I had to quit because my feet started swelling so bad I couldn't get them in my bowling shoes.

Go have fun, enjoy!

I went to a Pat McGee Band concert in Richmond when I was about 8.5 months pregnant with my second baby. Whoops, I didn't think to ask my doctor if it was okay:) All was well except I was sooo tired. And of course this would be the night when Josh Kelley opened and after the real show they had this awesome jam session that lasted until 1 a.m. Anyway...it was fun but I was super-tired by the end of the night. Good thing you'll have seats. Oh, and stay well-hydrated, you know how hot and thirsty you can get at a concert.
