Okay, if you don't have any luck finding accomodations close to the Comal or Guad. river, then perhaps you might consider lodging in New Braunfels. We have floated the Guad. river several times and have always had a blast!!! We always stay in New Braunfels at the Ederlweiss Inn. That is also very close to a very awesome restaurant/smokehouse called the New Braunfels Smokehouse and they have an awesome outdoor breakfast buffett and sell terrific kinds of food and gifts like turkey and beef jerkey, etc. I would also highly recommend visiting Gruene which is only about 20 mins away because they have a quaint downtown with an old-fashioned soda fountain and taffy shop. They are also famous for their HUGE river restaurant called the Gristmill Restaurant that is 2 stories with tables outside and inside and they serve these awesome Texas Torpedos appetizers. Another plus of visiting Gruene is their historic dancehall that is right next door to the Gristmill. But usually for their live shows each weekend you have to buy tickets in advance b/c they get sold out fast!(Also check their website calendar for who is playing that weekend.) I'll attach some links if interested in more info. Anyhow, good luck!!!! Be sure to bring sunblock!! It is going to take you all day to get down that river on a busy holiday weekend!!! : )
