I would like to hear from area moms about the following specialists:

Arlington Memorial Rehab Services
Easter Seals of FW
Callier Center of Communication Disorders
Dr. Marilyn Monteiro
Dr. Denise Wooten

Any and all feedback about these providers welcome. Also, has anyone else on forum had an IEE (Independent Educational Evaluation) for their kids?

Dear D.,

I have worked with children who have attended the Callier center and their parents have been uniformly pleased. Also, I am on Mamasourse as a mom, but I am also a Licensed Psychologist. My focus is assessment of children and adolescents and I provide IEE's for several area school districts. If you would like to call me just to ask questions, etc. I'm happy to pass on any knowledge I have. My website is: cagclp.com if you would like to take a look. Best of luck.

Hi. I don't know about the doctors you mentioned, but I know of a woman who works with special needs children who seems to me to be excellent. Her name is Jan and her website is www.littlegiantsteps.com

Hope this helps.

I've heard great things about Callier w/ hearing but in another area I'm very hesitant to offer praise - they do not have a good understanding of some speech related disorders and seem unwilling to learn. So, I guess it depends on what specific area of need your children are being evaluated for as to what center or doctor you'd want to go to. I have no personal knowledge of the two professionals mentioned and have had evaluations done on my daughter at two different metroplex centers at different times. I've also dealt with many school districts both with my children and the chidren of friends who have the same disorder my daughter has. You can get both positive and mixed results almost anywhere and there are so many variables. NO matter where you go, educate yourself on what is being evaluated, what the scores and results mean and how to track them against future and past results. Best of luck to you.

My son had a hearing problem. It is since corrected, but we had to go to Callier and they were awesome. He had a speech problem and has had some learning disablities. But they were truly awesome with my son. I couldn't have asked for better treatment anywhere. Thanks, T.
