Hi I.-
Welcome to maryland. I don't know if you have a letter from the university that you can present when you apply but that may help.

I hate being desperate but I need help. Does anyone know of any rentals in the Bowie area that are willing to work with someone with bad credit. Our credit is in the gutter because my husband was out of work for almost a year. He has a good job now at Bowie State that he just started june 17th. He has been looking for a place for us with the help of the university but is having trouble because of our credit. We have a good rental history. We are relocating from Ohio. I already notified our current landlord that we would be out by June 30th because the university promised my husband they would have a place for us. They are even offering to pay the deposit and two months rent to help us get started. If anyone knows a place that can help us out please let me know. We would prefer a 2 or 3 bedroom house or townhouse. We have two boys that love playing in the backyard. No scams please...I am stressed enough!
I am also looking for work. I have 4 interviews scheduled. If anyone knows of any child care centers hiring. I have been a teacher and assistant director. I have BA in Psychology and 7+ years of experience. Thank you for your help.
Thanks to all who responded. We are still looking but the university has offered to let us stay on an 2 bed room on-campus apartment for the month of July. So this will help, especially since I have interviews lined up starting next week. And with me being there I can go to visit and apply for places while hubby is at work. So we are still looking, if anyone has more info I will gladly take it. Thanks for all of your help!!!!

Hi there,
Welcome to Bowie. How old are your boys? I do know of a in-home childcare provider. Also, what monthly rent amount are you looking to stay within? I have many siblings in Bowie who live with 5-10 minutes of the University; they may know of a rental.
I would suggest trying out craigslist.com. that helped my family when relocating to maryland from florida. its expensive to live here but we managed to find a townhouse 3bed 2.5bath for only 1500. and that was cheap compared to what we were looking at with apartments. we also live in nice neighborhood in annapolis! so i would definately check that out!
Go on Craigslist.com they have jobs, homes etc. just make sure you put in dc area. Wish you luck
I can't help too much with a rental place but Baldwin Child Care center on Old Generals Hwy in Millersville is hiring and I work at a day school that are members of the same organization so I get emails from them. If the Director of Baldwin likes you but can't hire you she will send your contact info to other centers in the area to see if they need anyone.
I don't know of any specific places, but I would reccomend looking in the Crofton area. Crofton has a ton of child care centers (do a google search for centers), and it is pretty easy to find a townhome to rent from an individual person (who I think are much more lenient on credit histories). You could also contact a realtor and ask about their rental properties (owned by individuals). I hope this helps a little. Best of luck with your move!
i'm not sure, but have you checked houses for rent? Usually, it's through the owner. you'll probably need a letter from your landlord. check the MD Pennysaver. I think it's online.
Hi- I dont know of any places in bowie. but- I am a person who went through many years of credit in the gutter and I used to mangane apt. properties for a large management company- if your credit stinks - your gonna pay for it -ie; double security deposits, etc. If you can afford a Double SD- mention it when you apply, you'll get it back eventually anyway. Maybe suggest paying a double with the refund of half when you prove your 'credit worthiness' by paying on time for six months or so. Eitherway keep plugging away. Try sticking to the ads that look like a private owner. You will have better luck talking one on one to someone. Someone will rent to you if they feel you are sincere. The market completely sucks right now- people who thought they were going to flip homes and resell them now CANNOT. There are lots of folks trying to rent them just to make the mortgage. Which makes me want to tell you how we once bought a house w/bad credit- If you have a chunk of money saved-look into ASSUMPTION Mortgages- you make a down payment and take over the mortgage-they're were many th's available when we did it years back. Try putting an ad 'wanted to rent' on Craigslist and look in the local "little" papers, like the Pennysaver-the little papers are cheaper to place ads than the SUN, your more likly to find more private owners.
Good luck It can be done -just be strategic and sincere!
Check with the District of Columbia Public Schools (www.k12.dc.us) and Prince George's County Public Schools. The area need teachers. You can also check with the Charter Schools, since you have 7 years of teaching under your belt. Good Luck.
