Hi C.,
You can search for properties at primedfw.com, foldenproperties.com, remax.com, and rentclicks.com. Hope this helps.
We just moved here and I am looking for a rental home. I would like ideas on where to find rental properties. I have checked Realtor.com. If you know of other resource that would be great. We are looking in Little Elm, Frisco, and The Colony.

My husband and I are realtors and have access to all rentals in the area. We would love to help you out. The best ones are often rented before they even make it to all the different websites. His my husbands (Chris) number ###-###-####.
If you haven't already found a new place, you should have good luck in The Colony and Little Elm getting a bang for your buck. Frisco will be a bit pricier.
It's a great time to find a rental through a realtor as many folks are choosing to lease out their home if they cannot find a buyer to pay their price and to ride the market out. There are numerous property management companies who are also members of the MLS employing realtors as property managers.
If you are not very familiar with your prospective areas, I would highly recommend that you drive around various neighborhoods and get a feel for where you would like to live. As you drive, you will see for lease and for rent signs, so copy down the addresses and the numbers of homes that look like prospects to you. Then you can give them to your realtor or call them yourself when you get home. Of course, you could call them from your car at the curb in front of their home on your cell phone, but generally, folks would prefer for you to make an appointment to see the property.
Realtors generally use standard leasing forms from the Texas Association of Realtors (TAR) or the Texas Apartment Association (TAA). Private owners leasing their own properties will use their own forms.
The is a newspaper called the Dallas Morning News that might have some. Also, Craigslist is a website that has classified ads and might have some: www.craigslist.com.
I know some neighbors renting nearby found their home on Craigslist.

Are you looking for a home or an apartment? I am a mother of four and a realtor. If you would like I can assist you in your search and show you the properties. There is no cost involved to you and I understand the contracts and areas very well.
I was a part-time real estate agent up until this year and when the market got so bad it was not worth it, but there are rental properties on the MLS if you wanted to go through an agent. Otherwise, I find the best thing w/rental properties is to drive around and that way you're also able to check out the neighborhoods. If you tell me what you're looking for, I live in The Colony and my daughter lives in Little Elm and we can keep our eyes open for something that fits and let you know the phone numbers, etc.
I am a property manager (of my home in FL) and I exclusively use craigslist. Best of luck.
