i got my daughter some small ice packs, they came from the dollar store and they are round & have a gel inside that freezes, they are princess & i'm not sure if they really help much but they seem to comfort her some when she has leg pains.
Hello Mamas,
I was wondering if anyone had any advice on growing pains. My 4 year old is waking up frequently in the night from leg pains. I had these terribly even throughout college so I know they hurt and may be genetic? I have been just rubbing her legs to make it feel a little bit better but if anyone has any tips that would be great! Thanks!

My daughter often has pains in her legs that seem like growing pains. I give her a little Motrin and then slowly rub Vicks Vapor Rub up and down her legs. It really soothes her (don't know if it's the Vicks or the rubbing! Probably both)
She often gets a shin-splint-like pain if she wears flip-flops too long, so make sure he is wearing a shoe with a good, solid sole.
Hello C.,
I hope you can find a different relief than motrin or tylenol since growing pains could last until kids are 12. Have you tried increasing her consumption of:
magnesium/zinc/vitamin D/omega 3 oils
Specially magnesium and vitamin D. We always hear about how much calcium we need...however a man can have a heart attack because of magnesium deficiency...yes, it's that important. Also, more potassium (bananas are a good source, like others already mentioned).
for local pain, rub a few drops of lavender oil on her legs.
Good luck! ~C.~
My 5 year old son has horrible ones as well.
We use a hot pack (rice bag in microwave) and massage 1st and if he's still hurting in 5 mins or so I give him Advil.
Hi C.,
I know it will sound weird but my mom used to rub alchool on my legs when I had growing pain. It helped me a lot. Also there is something called calms-forte 4 kids. I give to my daughte when she is having growing pains and she sleeps a lot better. You can find at Wallgreens.
I hope that helps.
Blessings,
M. Jeanes
I have always been told to eat bananas. The potassium in them will help. I hope it works. I don't know if it ever really worked for me. Good luck!
what area of the leg are these pains felt? my 4yr old is always saying the bend of her leg is hurting.
