I'm single and this is a situation. I tried independent guys and they were expensive too and maybe not as good. I suggest Handico too.
Can anyone provide me with a referral for a reliable and reasonable handyman? We live in Bucktown. A friend swears by Handico but they're pretty pricey. Thanks in advance.

Not sure of one to recommend but stay away from the one on the corner of Leavitt and Armitage. The name is Handi-something. My father hired them wihtout checking anyone else because they "were right there". They were way overcharged, made a mess (which they had to come back to clean up). Also, my parents have original wood trim in the house. When fixing one of the walls, the guys cut the woodwork around a window and they had to come and repair it. You can tell from over 5 feet away. I asked someone with experience and my parents should have only been charged at most half of what they paid.
We've used the services of Tom Musick at ____@____.com, ###-###-####.
He's reliable, actually showing up on time & finishing the work on time. There was a week a tenant was away & he put in a new shower surround.
We have another project lined up for him.
In the past, we've had problems w/ different people starting & stopping, not showing up, etc & acting like that was normal & fine, so it's refreshing & good to have someone reliable.
Lakeshore Handyman is great! Grant, the owner, is friendly, knowledgeable, and always cleans up at the end of the day. He'll do anything from hanging artwork to small remodeling jobs. Estimates are always free, so you'll know if you are getting a good price. The number is ###-###-####.

Hi D.,
Bigger companies have bigger overhead, so they tend to be more expensive. I prefer smaller companies that have a good reputation. I suggest SAP Designs. They are very good & reasonable. We had water in our finished basement & they did the repairs (drywall, tile, wood trim). I was very happy with their work & they cleaned up the area when they were done. The # is ###-###-####, ask for Scott. Tell him D. referred you to him.
