I kind of agree with everyone else. Accidents happen. I don't see why you need a lawyer. That is why we have insurance.
I fell at the mall almost a week ago and broke my ankle going down the steps. I have already filed a report at the mall. They told me that their insurance company should be contacting me soon, but I dont want to speak to anyone till I talk to a lawyer. Does anyone know of a good personal injury/ slip and fall attorney or just have any advice to give me about this situation??

I hope nobody ever slips and falls in your home.
Was the mall negligent in some way for you falling down the steps? For example, were the steps broken and not marked as such? If not, the most you'll get is your medical bills paid and you can do that through them w/o a lawyer. Michigan laws are tough for slip and fall. You have to prove gross negligence and even then, they have a certain time period to fix the mistake to show they are acting in good faith before you could do anything.
We were at a store one day and a 6 foot shelf fell on my 2 year old, requiring an ER visit and staples in his head for a large gash and we got his medical bills paid, but nothing more. If you try to go through a lawyer for it, they'll take a percentage of your claim and then you won't get your medical bills fully paid for, so it would be best to just try to work with the mall on it.
Hello,
I don't have a good lawyer. I just wanted to warn you that Michigan has changed their laws on slip and fall and it is harder to sue. My mom fell outside of petco and she talked to a lawyer and that is what he told her. She did get her medical bills and miles paid for. Good Luck.
I also agree with the other responders- unless the mall was somehow negligent and this resulted in your fall, I think you should leave a lawyer out of it. Hiring one will cost money, and if the mall is willing to work with you on any expenses incurred in your medical treatment, I would call it good and let it go.
I am with the other poster - if they weren't negligent what do you need a lawyer for? If you had an accident and they are prepared to pay for your medical bills (which you won't know unless you talk to them) then you are lucky. If they were negligent and are being difficult then you can get a lawyer involved at that point.
