I agree, you should call her dr so he/she can look at it and give a more specific diagnosis and treatment. It sounds like what my neice had (since she was an infant) in every crevice of her body: inner elbows, back of knees, neck, wrists, ankles, etc. It would get exponentially worse with heat and humidity. She was diagnosed by a dermatologist with ezcema and they were told to use Ceravive (not sure of the exact spelling) in a tub, not the pump lotion. It has worked wonders, and they still use it several times a day. It's gotten better, but even at almost 2 it's still there. Good luck!
My daughter used to always get red under her neck and it was from milk. Maybe try cleaning her neck a little more often and see how that works. Good luck :D
Our daughter had the same thing. When she'd nurse and fall asleep, the milk would trail down and end up on her neck. Since her head rested on her neck, the area stayed wet w/ the moisture. We started putting a very soft cotton diaper (the kind that are super thin and are at Babies R Us) under her chin next to her neck and this helped. We also used cornstarch to dry it up; talc is no longer recommended.
My son had the same redness. He spit up a lot and so the area was moist. My Dr. recommended cornstarch to help dry the area. It worked great and it was nice not to run to the store for one more thing!
I always have the same problem with my son when he's teething and drooling. I douse him in Aquaphor and that seems to help.
My daughter had the same problem, it was from drooling all the time. It got very red, crusty, and itchy, she used to rub her chin back and forth to scratch it. I tried different lotions but finally just some hydrocortisone cream cleared it up. You don't want to put it near the face but just a little on the neck is fine, check with your doctor.
My son has had a few red patches and Aveeno Baby worked for him.
My son had that when he was that age. The doctors recommended keeping the area dry and using Aquaphor. Unfortunately, it didn't work for us. She ended up prescribing (can't remember the name now) but it was hydrocortisone mixed with aloe. It cleared it up withing a few days. It would come back every so often and I would reapply and then it would go away. I did have one doc say it was a yeast infection and to apply Lotrimin....big mistake. He broke out in a rash.
Good luck. I'm sure you are tired of hearing the "you know your child has a rash on his/her neck?" I know I sure was. As if I didn't notice!!!!
My son still has a slight case of eczema every once in a while, but what has really helped prevent it is we used Cetaphil to bathe him in and a non scented lotion on his body. Now we use California baby wash and Curetel lotion. I also wash everything in All Free and Clear.
Both of my babies had the same thing, and I would use baby powder to keep the area dry. You aren't supposed to let the baby inhale the powder, so I would pour it onto my fingers, then gently rub it under the neck (and other creases - my chubbier baby got it under the armpits and in his leg folds). It went away on it's own once they started holding their heads up and the area was able to air out on it's own. I have always been cautious about creams absorbing into the delicate skin, but baby powder has been used for decades.
My son used to get the same thing along with just disgusting lint and yuck in the folds in his neck. I think he used have milk drip and get trapped. I used to just wipe it with sensitive wipes every day and it would go away...only to come back when he got more, but it didn't get red when I kept it clean.
Good luck! Those fat rolls are cute but can hide some many things!

All of my babies got that. I would just make sure to clean and dry the area, then I would put vaseline on to help keep moisture away and help with irritation.
If you make sure you clean her neck several times a day (gently, and just water and a washcloth is fine), it will go away, and should stay away, as long as you keep cleaning it. It can get really funky in there if you don't take care of it.
Sounds like the beginnings of a rash. My little guy has that issue as he has quite a few extra folds of skin. :) Be sure to keep that area clean and well moisturized. Diaper cream in those little folds of skin does wonders.
Both my sons had the same problem. It happened because they were sloppy eaters and milk would roll down their chin even with bibs on. We kept wiping the milk to stay clean, but that didn't help the redness. My doctor prescribed an antibiotic with bacitracin. But he also said we could try over the counter bacitracin ointment. We had some at home, so we just used that and it worked great.
None of us can give you a diagnosis over the internet - especially since very few, if any of us are medically trained. I'd highly recommend calling the pediatrician and asking. It may be related to the heat, may be a fungal infection, eczema, etc.
It is really something a trained health care provider needs to help you with instead of us. Good luck.
