Hi
There is a recycling center in White Lake on M59 between Teggerdine & Pontiac Lake Roads called Royal Oak Recycling. You could try them. Good Luck.
Hi
I am trying to become more "Green" and recycle all that I can. We have been using the same trash company for almost 4 years and every week I put out recycables. Well I just recently found out that our trash service only recycles Plastic items with a #1 or 2. Keeping my eye on this i realized that about half of my plastic items are #5. My question to all of you is, do you have a trash service that will recycle more than #1 and 2? Or do you know of a place that you can take your recycables to?
thanks for your time and responses

I've never had that problem with curbside. I also do drop off some items at the Tray facility...
There is a new recycle place that just opened up. Do you get the spinal colomn? It is in there. My garbage people take everything. Great Lakes
Good job on going green.
I don't know where you live but I recently found out that there is a Recycling Center at 995 Coolidge in Troy (across the street from Meijer) that will take all plastic containers, pretty much all types of paper (manila envelopes, office paper, telephone books, etc.), phone books, cds, paperboard bevearage containers & drink boxes, plastic bags, etc. My son's elementary school educated the students on what they could do to help the environment and is currently collecting different types of recyclable items like old pagers, newspapers, etc. They also had a day where they used biodegradable plates, etc. I thought it was a pretty neat idea and my kindergartener now knows what can be recycled. At any rate, for more information about the Recycling Center, you can go to this website. soccra.org.
Hi A. - don't know where you live, but there is a SOCCRA senter on Coolidge between 14 and 15 that accepts almost everything, I believe. I'm sure you can google them to find out. Hope it's close enough. I'm grateful that Troy picks up nearly every kind of plastic now.
unfortunately #4 and #5 cannot be recycled. these are your yogurt containers, and like the clear, flimsy produce containers (i'm thinking of strawberries and grape tomatoes) some of the produce containers that are thin transparent plastic say that they are #1 which is deceiving and are not recyclable. recyclable #1 plastics are a more thick plastic, like a windex bottle.
what i try to do is buy the big containers of yogurt, and just reuse the containers, as they hold up really well in the dishwasher. and try to pick diff options in produce.
do what you can, it sucks. i'm sure eventually all these plastics will be changing.
i'm editing my response...i stand corrected, they take all plastics that's awesome. i drop mine off in A2 and was told the aforementioned plastics are not recyclable, maybe i'll go out to royal oak! thanks
Royal Oak now takes all plastics!
SOCCRA has drop off locations. www.socrra.org
Thanks for trying to be more "Green".
Where do you live? Royal Oak has recycling and you can take everything I think.. we take every plastic item we have.
Warren also has a recycling center. It's near the GM Tech Center cause my husband takes it.
We don't have recycling with our trash service so we just take it ourselves. We live in Rochester Hills
