Hi moms,

I'm wondering what you think of the Svan high chair. Although expensive, it gets great reviews and my husband and I like the fact that it's stylish and can change with our daughter as she grows. We're thinking of it as an investment for a piece of furniture that we intend to have for a long time. So, if you have one do you like it? Would you recommend one? Is it worth the money and if not is there a different style that you would recommend? Thanks so much for your imput!

What can I do next?

I don't know why anyone would spend that much on any of their baby gear that kids only use for a short period of time. If you don't like the look of the plastic chairs consider one of the wooden or plastic portable high chair/booster seats or a wooden high chair. There are much better things you can use that money for.

We purchased the Svan and LOVE it! My daughter will be 2 in May and we are still using it as a high chair. Pretty soon we will use it as a toddler chair. It's very easy to clean and looks great too!

I considered the Svan chair but wound up going with the Boon Flair Pedestal chair instead. It's still modern looking and transitions from high chair to table seat but was not as expensive and is made of one smooth piece of plastic so it's exceptionally easy to clean. I've been very happy with it!

Wow ! It's expensive ! I checked it out on their website and it is really nice though. I would buy it, why not ? If you have the money for it, invest in it. I love the mahogony one. Very pretty . Pricey, but looks sturdy and grows with the child, so that's saving you money already from booster seats and more ! Go for it, let me know if you order it ok ? If you do, write to me and share how you like it and how your child likes it more importantly.
Good luck !

We have the Anka high chair made by Svan and we love it! We looked at the regular Svan, but liked Anka more (some style differences and I think we liked that there was a plastic tray cover with the Anka), and it is a little more affordable.

I don't have that chair. But before you spend a lot of money on a chair that can grow with her - can it grow with her away from the table - like at her desk? Most children get to about 3 or 4 years old and want what the grown-ups have. I have a very inexpensive bar chair (low back but sits higher up to table) for my son - worked great until a few months ago. He only wants the same chair as the grown-ups and no booster seat. His reasoning "I'm no baby". So think about the money - will the style be worth it if it only lasts a year or two?

We have a Stokke 'Trip Trapp' chair for our little one...and love it because he can sit right up to the table with us. It also grows with the child...you can purchase a baby rail for the infant years and adjust the seat right up to the teens.

We have two in our home. My 4 and 6 y/o still use them, so we'll be purchasing another when the new baby comes.
We love them. They fit right into our dining room and don't look like plastic yuck like so many highchairs. You'll have it forever. I figure my grandchildren will be eating in them someday!
My little ones were always quite comfy in them, liked being included at the big table for meals. The chairs are easy to clean, just wipe with a damp cloth. Now they work well as just higher chairs. No boosters to purchase.
I say- go get one!
