Dear N.:
You might try Dr. Denise Bass Allen on Broadway near the Paramount Theater. She is very kind and gentle. Her office is spotless and the aquarium is really cool for the kids. She takes Delta Dental.
Hi - I am looking for recommendations for a good pediatric dentist in the Oakland/Berkeley area. Just for checkups/no dental issues right now. We have Delta Dental insurance. I took my 3 yo to one dentist, and while they were ok, I'm not sure it's the right practice for us. Thanks!

Dr. Denise Bass in Oakland is awesome. She had to give my 2 YO a root canal (she had chipped her tooth and it was getting infected). My daughter did not even cry at all. All she said was, "Mommy where's my yip." Her lip was so numb she couldn't feel it. Anyway, Denise is GREAT. She is on Broadway near th 19th Street Bart station. My daughter loves going there. And I have Delta Dental. I always pay more then Delta approves at my dentist but not with Dr. Denise. Delta covers all of the cleanings and checkups, I never pay.
Greetings N.: I know how important having a good dentist that relates o your children is. If you are willing to travel to Hayward we have seen Dr. D. Crockett, 22296Main Street in Hayward, 510- ###-###-#### for years and I can tell you that I know people that travel from Sacramento, and Patterson to see him.
He is gentle by nature and cares deeply about the children he sees. He is great with adults as well- I am one of those adults that had great fears of the dentist and he has been wonderful to us as well as patient!!!
I have a child that has special needs and Dr. Crockett, is generous to make allowances for what our son might need- extra time, talking to quietly and explaining every step along the way. I know that we had Delta Dental and he took it. Good Luck in your search. Nana Glenda
The Pediatric Dentistry office of Drs. Katsura, Wampler, et. al, are excellent and super kid-friendly. Many other families we know send their kids there and are really happy with the care. http://www.alohakidsdds.com/
My girls loved their visits there with Dr. Ameneh Khosrovani - the only down side is that their prices are higher than a family dentist and we aren't carrying dental insurance now so we switched to our family dentist, Dr. Les Hata in Rockridge (who BTW is an excellent dentist and very patient, good with kids http://www.nvo.com/hatadds)
I really like Dr. Katsura and the other dentists in his group. I know they have offices in Berkeley and N. Berkeley I think. They also have an Orinda office. I don't have their phone number butI'm sure you could find his info through google or a phone book. He used to be in practice with Dr. Wampler (may still be listed as Wampler and Katsura) but I think Dr. Wampler is retired.

Dr. Edward Matsuishi on Stockton in El Cerrito is a little farther out, but my son went there until he was a teenager.
Dr. Neil Katsura is the BEST! He has taken excellent care of my kids' teeth for nearly 12 years. He has offices near Alta Bates, off of Solano Avenue and in Orinda. You can look him up in the reviews section here. Call him!
We love love love Dr. Denise Bass-Allen. Her office is located on Broadway at 21st street in Oakland.
She is kind, gentle, and has a very fun child friendly office. She does only pediatrics so it is just kids begin treated there which I think helps put my son at ease. He always crys but she handles it very calmly and is extremely gentle.
I cannot reccomend her and her staff enough!
