My 9 year old Girl Scout Troop is putting together a progressive dinner. The idea is for the girls to prepare all three courses. Anyone have any recipes you could share for an appetizer or dessert that is easy enough for kids to make yet also feels special? We have the entree covered.

What can I do next?

What about a little salad bar - a bowl of lettuce with various toppings on the side for each girl make their own custom salad themselves. Shredded cheese, sunflower seeds, mandarin oranges, olives, crasins, etc.

What about hot pizza dip.?

1 brick cream cheese at room temp.
1 cup mozz. cheese, shredded
1/2 cup fresh parm. cheese shredded
pizza sauce
pepperoni
1 garlic clove minced
italian seasoning

Mix cream cheese half of mozz cheese, half of parm cheese, minced garlic and italian seasoning to taste. Spread on the bottom of a 8 inch round baking dish. Top with 8 ounces pizza sauce the remaining cheese and chopped up pepperoni. Heat at 350* until hot and bubbley...about 15 to 20 min.

Serve with sliced french bread rounds.

Good luck

what about ham rolls for appetizer? Sliced ham ( towel dry each slice) spread cream cheese on the ham, with a paper towel squeeze out the pickle juice of the pickle spear and wrap in the ham. They are so good!

Pizza dippers... take hoagie buns, spread pizza sauce different toppings and cheese and bake until the cheese is melted. Then have dishes of hot pizza sauce to dip in.

Depends how much your daughter is skilled with a deep fryer... but deep fried pickles. Take pickle spears and put them in dry fish batter then dip into wet fish batter and drop them into a dry daddy or pot of hot grease until they float, then serve with ranch dressing to dip them into.

any pie, pudding pie would be the easiest.. graham cracker or oreo crust, pudding and cool whip.

Sundae bar... have different dishes of toppings and a bowel of ice cream.

Cookies, you can get the prepackaged dry stuff.

Brownies.

rice crispy bars

puppy chow

What is the entree?

For the appetizer, how about quesadillas?

And for the dessert, flan in small ramekins is very easy and can be made ahead.

For an appetizer..maybe little bagel bites with sauce and cheese? Just bake them! Super easy. My 4 year old loves doing this with me.

No bake cheesecake... super easy. Top it with fresh cut up fruit. or they can heat the fruit over the stove with a little sugar and squirt of lemon juice for a fruit sauce.

Or brownies with a scoop of ice cream, and chocolate/caramel sauce on top.

I don't know what they are serving for the dinner, but what about chips and queso for the appetizer? Brown some hamburger, add cubed velveeta cheese, add a can of rotel and you're done. Not so healthy... but easy.

For an appetizer how about cheese balls or sausage balls? Cake pops would be fun.
