I'm 8 months pregnant and my job requires me to walk around alot. I'm having problems with my hip, so this is a struggle to walk and climb stairs. Maybe irritability from being bipolar is kicking in again, But everyone is getting on my nerves with remarks like: "any day now" and "are you having twins?", "when are you due?" I hear this all day, everyday everywhere I go. I have only gained 5 lbs but I was already chunky to begin with. I'm ready to go on maternity leave but can't afford it, what are some ways to live thrifty without running up the debt I already owe? At this point I don't care if I run up more credit cards..and yes I take my medication of abilify regularly.

What can I do next?

There's a program called angel food ministries that helps a lot to save on groceries. If you google it that should get you to it's website. It's administered by local churches and is a great resource.

Sounds like what you are experiencing is totally normal for an 8 months pregnant woman, with an 18 month old AND working full time! How could you NOT be irritable? Anyone in your situation would be. How many more weeks do you have? You're so close it seems!!

I am sure there are state programs that may help with things like groceries that you would probably qualify for if you are not working.

Do you have any disability insurance through your employer or privatley? If you do you can get the doctor to work with you on putting you on temporary disability.

Good Luck and I hope you are feeling better soon. Congratulations on your baby to be!

Hi B Z,
Is it possible for you to get some chiropractic care? (I know, there are 2 types of people in the world... those who swear by chiropractors and those who have never been. I used to be in the latter group until my last pregnancy). I am 7 months pregnant and have hip pain too, but I've found that seeing a chiropractor who specializes in pregnant women makes a HUGE difference. I recommend Dr. Nella at Bucktown Chiropractic if you're anywhere nearby. They take most insurance. Also, taking some regular breaks to do some stretching, squatting, or cat/cow yoga poses can really help with the hip pain. Think of it this way... smokers get regular cigarette breaks. Why can't you take them too?

As for other peoples' comments.... they're obnoxious, aren't they? I haven't really started getting TOO many yet, but I remember being annoyed by it last time too. Not much you can do about that unfortunately. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!
