Hi B.,
You can start reading to them anytime you'd like. Even when they are just in your womb. Don't be discouraged if your little one won't sit still and pay direct attention to you while you read aloud. Still read to your son, even though he may be paying attention to his toys etc. The more you are interested in books, the more he will be as well. :-) You can read a page or two and may be try to get him to point to certain pictures in the book. If he doesn't want to, don't force the issue. But do indeed keep up the reading every day. He'll come around. His interests are just different right now. Best wishes,G.

I started reading to both of my daughters while I was still pregnant. My oldest is really hyperactive so we used to keep the stories really short now she can almost get through a couple!(she is 5)Reading is very good because it helps with their speech by hearing you all of the time.As soon as you can start to read to him I would...the sooner the better.

My daughter has loved books since she was about 7 months old, but my son didn't start really looking at them until he was about 15 months old, now he has a couple of favorites that we look at and I point and name the picture. He still doesn't like to do it for very long and my daughter could read all day. Each child is different.

Even though he has no intrest in it keep reading while he's playing or better yet try when you lay him down to sleep. It is a good routine and is calming. He will learn to love it in no time and then you'll be asking why did you start LOL
Happy Reading ;)
