Yep..they eat 'em first then start flipping the pages, then they read! LOL
Seriously, keep reading to her, you are doing her a HUGE favor by getting her interested in books! (Even if they are only a snack for now!)
I am hoping that some of you will share your mommy wisdom with a first-timer. My daughter is almost 7 months old. I know the importance of reading and my husband and I try to read with her often. She is teething and is at the age where she is reaching for everything and anytime we try to read with her she really just wants to squirm all over so that she can gnaw on the pages of the board books. My question is - will there come a time when she will stop trying to eat the books?

Totally normal. My kid liked to eat books too, they all do.
i doubt she will be 10 and eating books
my daughter is 15 months old and has just now stopped eating her books, every corner is chewed on..lol
Absolutely! But in the meantime, let her chew away...and read her something else while she chews!! We ended-up buying a 2nd copy of what became my daughter's "chew book." The chewing will end around the time that she begins to focus on the pictures in the book and is able to turn the pages on her own. At 7 months, even the brightly color pictures can't hold her attention very long. This is 100% perfectly normal -- so enjoy!!
It is ok. The reading is good for her brain stimulation. Just let her do what she does while reading. I usual shortened the stories for my girls. Also, I would get board books that are engaging. The ones where you sing are the best at that age. My best advice just keeping the reading even if it doesn't fit what we like as mom's to romantically envision (smile). As you do it more, and she develops expand the amount of time (start out small even if it is just 1-2 minutes), choose books that appear to engage her by topic (go to library and explore by showing her pictures and talking about it).
there is a disorder where kids only want to eat paper ,I think it is just low iron or some vitamin in the beginiing but google it and see the pedatrician, I know at the 9 month check up they check iron levels. hope this helps ?
They wouldn't keep eating it if they didn't like it so I think you are on the right track.
