Hi E.,
I just went throug this. My daughter had her 12 month shots and got really sick. She developed high fevers the next morning for about a week and then when the fever broke she developed a full body rash that came and went for about a week. Following that she had a "very impressive" case of hives that did not go away for about 5 days. I was told throughout all of this that it could be anything from a reaction to the vaccine to a virus...I know this probably didn't help but I wanted you to know what I went through. By the way she is fine now and we never knew what happened so I guess what I am telling you is that she may have no reaction or a severe one but it IS normal. Have a great day.

My daughter broke out in a measles-like rash after her MMR in June. I think it lasted a week to 10 days

my daughter had her MMR 10 days ago- and today has started with diarrhea. Has had a poor appetite and profound fatigue since her MMR. Has lost a pound and a half in 10 days- and been very fussy and irritable.
will be playing one moment looking content- then starts to cry like in pain- and difficulty to console. I am very upset about this - and with my Pediatrician office- who had a medical assistant give the shot. Which I did not know that she was a medical assistant-was told was the nurse. She did not aspirate any of the three shots she gave my daughter- when my daughter moved and the needle came out of her leg- she reinjected with the same needle into her right leg- and to top if off- did not give the shot in the correct place- gave on the lateral side of her leg- not into the top thigh muscle. Furious- fearful of further outcomes from this. Reported to my pediatrician who replied that not aspirating the IM shots has been a problem in the past and looks like they will need to do another "in-service" on this- stated I wouldn't have the shots repeated....I never wanted them repeated- I wanted her to be aware of the poor administration of the shots- My daughter did also get a rash on her upper torso- that started 2 days later and lasted about one week. I will continue to watch for fevers. I regret allowing her to have the MMR. Frustratingly, regret is not going to help this situation.

E., make sure you keep an eye on ever other aspect of your daughter. You should ask your doctor for the batch number on the vaccination, in case anything else comes up. www.thinktwice.com has so very extreem stories about reactions to vaccinations but you may find some of the info helpfull.

Dear E.,
It's pretty standard for a child to have a reaction to the vaccines. Most cases I know of last about as long as the disease you vaccinate against. So, for MMR, a week to ten days would be about right.
1)You should call her doctor, to let them know she is having a reation.
2)Make sure they put it in writing IN HER FILE
3)Don't give her ASPRIN
4) Call her doctor if she spikes a fever over 100.
Other-wise, keep her comfortable and calm. She will probably tire easily and may be sensitive to bright light.
Lots of liquids and rest.
Good Luck!

My children always had some diarrhea after vaccines. My son also developed a rash after the MMR vaccine. It only lasted a day or two. Good luck
