Hello Moms, can anyone give me their experiences with raw milk. Do you know anyone who has gotten sick from it? Are there any moms out there who give it to their children on a regular basis and has noticed an improvement in their child's health?

My brother in law lived on a farm as a child and so did my husband they drank raw cows milk. I had a girlfriend that lived in Germany for a few years while her husband was in the military. They lived in a small town and she talked about her milk being delivered to her porch in the early a.m. and it was raw milk she said she lived to wait for the cream to come to the top and she'd use it to whip and dip fresh strawberry's in. She said it was the best.

We started on it when my son was one year old. He is almost five, and has not been sick since he left daycare at 2 1/2 (where they gave him pasteurized milk). He has had mild colds but not sick. My daughter weaned herself at 10 months, so we started her on a homemade formula made with raw cows milk, she prospered with it (store bought milk-based formula made her vomit, and no way was I going to give her soy formula). She is 2 1/2 now and has not been sick yet, although she has had colds. Ear infections are caused by pasteurized dairy.

Pasteurization was instituted back in the 1930s when they did not have stainless steel tanks, cooling tanks, refrigerated trucks, or testing equipment. Now that we have all of those things, there really is no reason to pasteurize. For more info, go to www.mercola.com and www.westonaprice.org.

we are a family of 6 and have been drinking raw milk from our own jersey cows for 12 years now. we start the kids on raw cow's milk at age one, it has actually become a fun birthday ritual :) before age one they are on breastmilk and goat milk when i'm not home. we milk our own goats too and i pasteurize the milk for infants at a low temp (140) to preserve beneficial enzymes. we have shared our raw milk with many friends, family, and neighbors and no one has ever become sick. actually peaople who think they are allergic to milk can often digest raw milk without any symptoms. our kids are extremely healthy. drinking raw milk has greatly improved my asthma and migraines, actually not a single migraine in the 12 years. so proced with confidence! i recommend you look for a source of raw milk near your home, best if you can visit the farm and see the healthy cows :) good luck :)

When we were kids our milk came straight from the farm and to my knowledge it was unpasteurized. It was so much better. When they started changing things, it was so hard to get used to the idea. Anyway, we never got sick from the milk.

I have friends on a natural group that I'm on and many of them drink raw cows milk and raw goats milk. They are healthy. If you are going to drink cow's milk, raw is the best way to go.

If you have a chance to buy your own cow..that would even be better too.

We have consumed raw milk for many years. It is the best both in taste and nutrition. We have never had any problems. Offering this to your family will certainly put you on the road (or keep you on the road) to good health. In fact, lactose-intolerant people (including kids) who come to my house can tolerate big glasses of it with no problems.

How do we get it? We have a coop of families who purchase it directly from a farm in SC. One family drives each month (2 hours) to bring it back for all of us. Driving once a year (or less) is not a hassle for such a wonderful thing!

We have been using raw milk whenever we can get it for the last 22 years starting with the weaning of my oldest son. My 11 children have always been healthy and I feel this is part of it. We now have goats ourselves and have own own fresh milk.
I have a good friend who had a huge change in her children's health and raw milk is a very large factor in that too.
Fell free to contact me if you have any specific questions. Lot's of people freak out about raw milk but I am sure you have done your research and know the facts. Nost people who freak about it have never done the research or have heard on of the few stories of someone getting sick. Like we have a perfect food supply of suposedly pasturized food and drink. I will go with fresh and raw for safely everytime I have a choice!

Blessings!

We also use raw milk when we can find it. My two year old has been a very healthy child. We also use non-homogenized low temp pasteurization cow milk from Happy Cow Creamery; this is actually my favorite milk taste wise. They also have a website that explains the benefits of their milk which I believe would hold true for raw milk as well. My sister who is lactose intolerant can drink this milk without getting sick due to the natural enzymes. I think though if you are trying to see a health improvement you may also want to look at cutting out artificially dyed and highly processed foods if you include those in your diet now. Raw milk over fruit loops probably wouldn’t net you much change.

I'm a veterinarian and I've been on more dairy farms than the average consumer, and I can tell you that there are MANY opportunities for bacteria to contaminate a milk product on a dairy farm. I'm also a microbiologist, and I can tell you that milk is a perfect multiplying medium for bacteria. I am on a food safety mailing list and I get email newsletters all the time regarding outbreaks of food-borne disease all over the country associated with raw milk and raw milk products. I'd be happy to share if you're interested. I can see NO good enough reason to drink raw milk to outweigh the risks- it's like playing russian roulette with your children's health.

People who grew up on dairy farms may have "self-vaccinated" over the years and are thus more resistant to the bacteria commonly in raw milk. That is not the case for you or your children. Please reconsider exposing them to this risky product.

I have 6 children ages 11-21, and we have been drinking raw
goat's milk for 4 years. I believe that it is nutritionally superior than Soy and cow's milk (raw or processed).
My children are very healthy, and now that two have left our home, I wish I would have started drinking goat's milk earlier. I learned about the importance of goat's milk through reading the Bible and The Maker's Diet. IT is easier for humans to digest, and much closer to human milk chemically than anything else.
