Rate for Non-licensed Childcare

A friend of mine is going to watch my 1 year old occasionally when my other childcare is unable to, probably about 1 day every 2 weeks. I will need childcare for about 14 hours on those days. She isn't a DCP, just a mom I know and love with a 4 year old, and this is in the Montclair area. She loves my baby, but will be doing this as a job, so of course I will be paying her. I have NO idea what an appropriate cost for a 14-hour day in this circumstance would be. What do you think, or what is your experience?
Thank you!

EDIT: My alternate childcare is my mom, who is refusing any form of payment! So that's why I have nothing to compare it to. :) And yes, 14 hour days are very long, I wish I could do something about that! I will be providing diapers and about 1/2 the food, at least.

What can I do next?

How much would you pay for your alternate childcare? It should be comparable to that even though she is not licensed.

Regardless, 14 hours is a very long day, which I would assume includes feeding your child several meals and snacks. So I would think an absolute minimum of $75.

So much depends of your financial state and hers; since she is a friend you can both take that into account. Since I don't know that, or about the Montclair area I can't be specific, but here is a url for a babysitter calculator that I found useful.

For the record, I also personally know my daughter's caregiver from church, and I pay her around a dollar less per hour than the calculator says (I live in Manhattan), but neither of us has a lot of money.
Good luck!

I have heard that about $50 a day is typical for your situation in this area, but that is for the standard work day, i.e. about 8 hours.

$100 for the day and bring all the food and diapers.
