Hi Mom's!

My 6 month old baby girl has a rash on her shoulders, belly, and under her neck. We cannot get rid of it. She goes to her pediatrician tomorrow but I am so worried. It is not raised, it is flat and red. Any thoughts on what this could be? I was wondering if it is from detergents possibly? Help!!

What can I do next?

My daughter just had this happen last week it started with a fever that went away after motrin then the next day she had a rash on her upper torso it took a couple of days for it to go away, it was a virus that needed to run its course. If you have not changed anything ie detergant, bath, soap lotion than its a good chance its just a virus and it will clear up after about 4 days.

There are some questions Ihave.
Is she feverish? She may have a fever rash.
Or is she on any meds? Mat be a reaction of some sort.
Or it is getting hot, maybe it is heat rash,
Is she DROOLING from teething, sometimes this will give babies a rash.
But try not to worry about to much until you see the doc.
If you notice it to can worse threw the day go to the ER.
Let us know
Hope it gets better.

it could be a number of things. Speaking from a whole FAMILY of sensitive skin, it could be detergent, it could be her shampoo or body wash, it could be a heat rash, it could be eczema, etc.

I dont know if you are comfortable buying stuff online, but that is what i started doing so that i could buy body wash, shampoo, lotion, and laundry detergent, etc, from the same place and it would all be free of stuff like formaldehyde or phosphates that can causes rashes and health issues. Its a lot cheaper to buy it online then it is to have to buy the chemical free or naturally based stuff at the store.

check out http://www.HealthySafeAndClean.com there is a lot of info there on chemicals and how it can effect you, common products that have caustic chemicals, etc. you can request more info if you want too.

Could be from detergent. are you using Dreft or a few & clear variety? Is it itchy? It could also be eczema.

flat and red 'rashes' are hives. But I'm not a Doctor.
But as a child I used to get hives... and it looked like that... and it was.
But yes, take her to the Doctor.

My daughter recently had the same thing, my sis-in-law told me to try bathing her with about 1/4 c of baking soda in her baths (and to not use any scented lotions afterward) and it worked. She looked much better the next day and continued to improve after that until it was gone. Hope this helps!

Sounds like either ecsema or hives, and both are due to an allergy. Hang in there and see what the doc says tmrw, they will be able to tell you what's going on. Take note of any solids she's been taking in, as it's likely an allergy to a new food. Hope she feels better!
