had lots of complications after mirena was inserted... those of you who have had problems with it probably know how it is... weight gain (though i was usually thin)... terrible cramps with no periods... sporadic pain duing sex... hot flashes... not everyone has these problems, but they were enough for me to have it removed... personally... anything that constantly produces hornmones in your body with no break is bad for you!!! so i had it removed in august, had one heck of a period after (painful and long) started birthcontroll the minute it was taken out. other than the first period (about 6 weeks ago) i have had no other sign of my period. have been sick to my stomach, without getting sick much, tender breasts (though not larger) have actually lost a little weight) crying all the time (even during church hymns that are uplifting) and constant diariah (sp?) wondering if this is normal after having the mirena taken out or if I should go buy a test..... have had three other children by the way...

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

UPDATE... 2 pregnancy tests negative... started two days ago, done last night.. very short period... dr said not pregnant, may switch to different BC though, still feeling funny - all the side effects i read on the BC paperwork are the exact symptoms of pregnancy - to confusing each month!

I am a test waster. I always tested even when I knew I couldn't be pregnant, I tested monthly when I was breastfeeding (even though I was on birth control, just not having periods), and then when we were trying for #3 I kept testing way too soon. I have never been on mirena, but on my last birth control prescription I had up to six weeks between periods, then periods that were horrible (sometimes two weeks long, heavy, miserable). It couldn't hurt to buy a test if you're able to, but again I don't know anything specific about mirena. I had crazy hormone issues with my last birth control, too. Good luck!

Sounds to me like baby number four-but shouldn't you consult a doctor? Maybe you shouldn't rely solely on a test? I hope everything is ok!

I had my mirena taken out in december and in february we were pregnant (we were trying to get pregnant). I had some discomfort with the IUD at first, but not as much as u did (sorry). Get tested, just to be on the safe side... but it might just be ur body's reaction to changes in hormones again. Good Luck.

I just had mine removed last month and have had many of the same symptoms. In fact, other than the crying, you could be describing me. I haven't taken a test yet though, figured I would give i a while.

I had the mirena in for over 4 years with no period and still got pregnant on my first official try.
I have heard that most people other do not have a problem getting pregnant quickly once theirs is out either. Just howver long it takes to get a real ovulation/menstral cycle.
I would take a test to have some peace of mind.
