My daughter will be starting pre-k next week and I am looking for some quick and yummie recipes.
Currently, the routine is to get up and hang-out for an hour and then eat breakfast. Her body is used to eating breakfast around 9ish--school starts at 830, I don't want her going to school with an empty belly and not eat til lunch. I know over time she will adjust to getting up early and eating earlier but what breakfast will sound good?
I am looking for a quick breakfast that she can eat in the car and that will taste good too, and hopefully nutriental too.

We are not early risers so the next few weeks will be a challenge for all of us, but overtime we will all get used to waking up early and having breakfast at the table. Any help will be wonderful.
Thank you in advance.

BB

I use to let my daughter eat breakfast on the way to her daycare - now her school is three blocks away and she has to eat before we leave the house.....
I buy her things like the toaster struedels and make her boiled eggs and sausage links or bacon.... and she loves egg and cheese sandwiches...
But another thing we make ahead of time and then reheat in the mornings are Breakfast Muffins

Real easy!

1 cup of grated cheese
1 cup chopped ham
2 eggs
splash of milk
little bit of mustard (optional)
season salt and pepper to taste
1 can pillsbury biscuits

Preheat oven to 350. Mix first 6 ingredients together. Using a cupcake pan, put a biscuit in the bottom of each tin. Spoon about a tablespoon of mixture over the top of each biscuit. Bake for about 10-15 minutes. The kids love these and they travel well. You can change up the type of cheese to pepper jack or swiss or whatever you like! I also precook sausage or bacon and add bits rather than the ham on occasions.... hope you like them

A smoothie in a no spill cup our solution to mornings when we have to get up and go fast. My 2 year old loves this quick easy nutritious blender recipe. Also it makes the perfect amount to just fill one of those Nubby sippy cups that has the straw that goes down inside. Add ingredients in this order for easier blending.

3/4 cup plain yogurt (don't dirty a measuring cup just look at the measurements on the side of the blender and estimate.)

approximately 1 Tbs. peanut butter

1 banana

approximately 1/4 tsp. vanilla

about 6 whole frozen strawberries (if they are small I throw an extra one in)

After putting these ingredients in the blender put the lid on turn it on get the cup ready and go work on something else for a minute. after it mostly blending smoothly come back turn off the blender and give it a quick scrape down and taste it. Give it another quick blend and pour it in the cup take just a second to rinse the blender so it won't be yucky latter and out the door you go.

Obviously there is a lot of wiggle room here, have fun. I like the fact that the banana is sweet enough that I don't have to add sugar. I also like that the yogurt and peanut butter give it enough protein. Dr. Sears has a smoothie recipe you can look at for other ideas. Also, some people try juice concentrates for sweetness or frozen blueberries which are sweeter than strawberries. Some people add a controversial raw egg for extra protein or tofu. Just find something you like.

Also for an even easier cup solution get the disposable grab and go cups from the store that have lids and then put a straw down through the hole. If you use the Nuby cups a cleaning tip is to use a q-tip. to clean the straw out.
