What did the doctor suggest? When you say she's vomiting after every feeding I would consider that she's allergic to milk protein if you're feeding her formula or something in your milk if she's breast fed.

Another possibility would be reflux, a condition in which the esophageal sphincter is immature allowing the milk to come back up.

After your SWH A baby doesn't need to eat every hour. You'll be spending a good part of your day feeding her. Jarred food should just be something extra. At 5 months it's not meant to be a part of their nutrition needs. Since you're concerned about her spitting up, I suggest you not feed her jarred food. That may be causing the problem. Feed her 3-4 oz of formula as often as she wants it. Try feeding on demand to eliminate the feeding too much possibility.

Ask about gastric reflux. My oldest daughter had it, and the puking after every feeding was so frustrating. It took a while to get the ped to diagnose it or even believe me that there was a problem. For some reason, they are reluctant to diagnose it, but when she finally got the meds, she was immediately better.

You need to work with your pediatrician on this. Have they not given any recommendations? That seems unusual to me.
The first things they suggest in a case like this where there is weight loss and vomiting in an infant with no obvious cause are:
- changing formula: you may try non-dairy or an extra sensitive formula like alimentum - or if you are breastfeeding adjusting your diet to eliminate possible allergens.
- changing your feeding technique: using the slowest flow nipple possible and feeding in small increments but more often: think 2 oz every hour instead of 6 oz every three hours. If you are breastfeeding there are similar techniques that can slow down your let down and more frequent smaller feedings. This can also greatly benefit babies with reflux issues - their stomachs are tiny and eating smaller meals more frequently puts less pressure on the esophageal sphincter.
- prescribing reflux medication just to see whether that makes things better

If none of this helps to turn things around they may progress to more invasive test to determine whether your child has an organic issues that contribute to her condition.
Good luck.

It took until almost five for our doctor to send us to a peds gi. She was 25lbs and diagnosed with celiac doubled her weight in one year. if you have started solids reverse back to where she was gaining weight foodwise. So if you started rice then oatmeal then she started this trend back up to rice. If you progressed to Barley or wheat cereal then back up to before that. If not then check for Reflux and do not let her be flat for 45 minutes after feeding. Goodluck.

Is she breast fed or formula fed? There are many things that can be contributing to it. Have you started feeding her solid food yet? If you have started feeding her solid food and it started about that time...start eliminating things to see if it is a food allergy. There are so many different types of allergies to gluten and whey and all kinds of things.
If she is breast fed...eliminate major things in your diet, dairy, gluten...things like that to see if there is an improvement. If she is formula fed, try her on soy if she is not on it.
Babies have our antibodies when they are born, so what does not bother them at first, may start as they begin to develop their own.
If your dr is not exploring other options and you truly feel like there is something wrong...seek a second opinion. ALWAYS follow your instincts....you know your child better than anyone else when it comes to habits and reactions.

is she eating too much at one time. I know when we uped there ounces because they were sucking it dry sometimes two more was two too many! so we backed it down to one more oz.
( if she can empty four oz and you add six and she barfs go to five. )

The other thing we learned quickly was my son was a one burp kid. If we tried to get another burp out of him after he gave one it was all over! I noticed it with another person in the pedi office. Baby burped once and the momma kept trying for another and blah!

If she continues to have problems I would get a second opnion. Good luck.
