Update:
My question has been answered to my satisfaction. Thanks.

I'm reading some news online which stated that there were some concerns regarding radioactive iodine in the rainwater. My question in specific is if SF/Bay Area has asked residents not to drink the tap water or use it for cooking? I'm in Portland and just curious.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks Page.

Thanks, too, Tracy. I was doing research, online, not finding much, and I figured that *if* there'd been a warning about water, those down there would know. I am not wanting to alarm anyone. This was just, as I said, more of an inquisitive question than a Chicken Little moment.

Isn't Iodine tablets what they are giving people in California to combat the radioactivity of water and air coming from Japan? I wonder if this isn't a mashup of a couple of news stories. There is a story today that Japan is dumping radioctive water from it's reactors into the ocean. I'm not an alarmist and not trying to worry you. If I lived there I think I would contact the CDC and local health department to find out what the reccomendations are and do some of your own research online as well. Go to trusted news sources. Not the sensationalists that are trying to boost ratings. In other words, dont go off half cocked, but take a little time to research whats really going on.
