I HAVE A QUESTION AND NEED SOME IDEAS. MY QUESTION IS, MY FRIENDS SON IS COMING HOME FROM SERVING IN IRAQ FOR CHRISTMAS. HE WILL BE COMIMG HOME FOR 5 DAYS. THE PROBLEM IS HE NEEDS A NEW PAIR OF BOOTS HE WANTS FROM L.L BEAN THAT COST 175.00 BUT HIS MOTHER AND HIMSELF ARE STRUGGLING TO MAKE ENDS MEET. I AM ASKING IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS ABOUT HOW SHE CAN GET THE MONEY TO BUY HER SON SOME BOOTS.I KNOW IT IS LAST MINUTE BUT ANY IDEAS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.THANKS K.
Kelly - first -- give your friends son a BIG hug and thanks for serving our country! If you have an L.L. Bean store near you, I would go to them and tell them exactly what you have told us -- I have found that many people and business what to help our soldiers in any way they can! If that does not work, call your local Police Department as many of them have programs this time of year to help people! Please let us know what happens!

Throw a coming home get together and have the guests contribute to the cost of the boots. Even if people don't agree with the invasion they support our troops.
Hi, I like LLBean stuff a lot, but find the prices very high. I always check their sale inventory on-line, and often find good deals, especially now when they are having free shipping. Here is a link for LLBean Men's boots that are currently on-sale. The prices on these sale boots range from $35-130, a lot cheaper than $175, and they are all real LLBean, just on-sale. Hope that helps! Also, I would try contacting LLBean directly and explain your situation. I should think they might consider offering a discount to a US soldier serving in Iraq for Christmas. Okay here in and of itself is the problem . I love all of your ideas by the way I am kellys sister she posted this for me and my friend. The kid is coming home for 5 days pass at Christmas . He just got married .He wants time ALONE with his mother and new wife in a foreign country that is frightening to her (USA) . He does want a pair of boots because the Army does not issue special requistion boots .Thank You President Bush your tax dollars hard at work . I talked to Senator Olympia Snowe she said we can give him a coming home parade but no boots . UMM HELLOOOO . I talked to L. L Bean They said we donate to worthy causes like the Boy Scouts . UMM heelllo . My freind is a C N A and a simple woman .Her husband is out of work with a back injury she cannot afford to throw a get together or have the time for her son to meet and greet people when he has a 5 day pass for Christmas . He wants these boots because he is depressed because his feet hurt because he is in Iraq protecting our freedom and giving us the most prescious gift of all .The gift of peace on Earth hopefully ( a Dream ? Maybe ), but his mind is not on his task at hand. He is on his feet 20 hours a day . His feet are killing him and inadvertently 175.00 or there lacck of is going to get him killed and he will come home to his mother for good next time . Thank you all for your suggestions and I do appreciate my sister posting this here but all information was not given . Now as they say in Maine you know the rest of the story . My friend does not know I am doing this so contacting the local newschannels or newspapers would not be condusive for my part or hers . She does not want charity ,I am not doing this because she is a charity case .I am doing this because her son has given me a gift my freedom or protection of it and I want to return the favor in a small 175.00 way .
