Putty for Making Real Toy?

My son (6) would love to be able to make some of the cool cars and planes that he sees on his videos (Larry Boy - Veggietales).

Is there a clay or putty or something that one could use to make a small plane or car, which would - not - break if it were dropped?

I think most fired clay would break if it were dropped.

I do not have a woodshop.

Thanks for any ideas.

best,
S.

You don't need a wood shop. You just need a dremel and some bits. Look up tutorials on YouTube on how to use it. Short of that, Fima dough can be baked, but i don't how it will hold up in play.

Sculpey-- we don't have a Hobby Lobby here, so try Michaels. Even Fred Meyer has Sculpey in their craft section.

Can't guarantee it won't break-- try to make it dense enough. Thin, fragile pieces will break.

Hobby Lobby had modeling clay. In a variety of colors. If you look on that aisle you'll also find a lot of books that are instructions for how to make tons of items. They do get baked so they are permanent but I don't think they are super fragile.

I think I've almost always used Sculpey clay.

I have these books and it was a lot of fun to make stuff out of them.
