it seems like a week in the fridge might be too long for baby's sensitive tummy. Also, the saying "when in doubt, throw it out" comes to mind! : )
Hi, i pureed brown rice (for my baby), left it in the freezer for three weeks, and thawed it in the refridgerator for a week. when i finally had the time to take it out to look at it, i am not sure if it is still good to eat. it had some evidence of freezer burn and molded together like jello. i never freezed pureed brown rice before. is it still safe to eat it or toss it? thanks for you responses

When in doubt..... throw it out..... as everyone else seems to be saying. :)
BE SAFE AND TOSS IT!!! A.
Why bother pureeing it. As long as you cook it until its super soft and mushy she should be able to eat it. My daughter was 9 mos old when she started eating regular food (she hated the stage 3's), and my doc told me she didn't need them anyway. You can also do the same with pasta. Just cook it until it is super mushy she'll be just fine with it.
WHEN IN DOUBT, THROW IT OUT! ( This applies to any food.)
When in doubt, throw out. ALWAYS.........
When in doubt...throw it out! (learned that in a nutrition class I took)

I agree that you don't need to puree brown rice. When I have overcooked brown rice or used too much water it sticks together too.
2 rules I live by:
1. When in doubt throw it out (like everyone else!)
2. Eat/Use thawed food within 24 hours of taking it out of the fridge.
1 week is definitely too long.
Try reading Super Baby Foods - its her Super Porridge recipe. When you don't have a lot of time, the author suggests grinding brown rice and storing in air tight container (she suggests cleaned and sterilized mayo jar) for up to 1 month in fridge. When ready to eat, just take 2-3 TBS and cook with 1 cup water for 10 mins. makes 2-3 servigns depending on how much your child eats. Left overs can be placed in refrig for up to 2-3 days.
Also, she doesn't suggest freezing cooked brown rice. She doesn't really explain why.
i agree, just toss it to be safe. but dont bother to puree it. just cook it until its super super soft.
Yes, definitely throw it out. I take my frozen baby food out of the freezer at night before I go to bed, and am sure to use it the next day. If it's not completely thawed I microwave it for a few seconds. Anything not used goes to the dog so there's no guilt or waste.
M.,
No. It is no longer good. Use food as soon as it is thawed, within a day, unless you are one to keep track of how long you kept it in the fridge before you froze it.
Cook foods and freeze them immediately. Then keep them properly refrigerated. Generally 24 hours after thawing (so plan carefully if you need the same food the next day).
(and the wise person next to me who just asked about sushi, shush, and never freeze or eat formerly frozen sushi. yah, he's a wiseguy sometimes.)
Good Luck,
M.
When in doubt, throw it out!
