So many of you have talked about your pulled pork recipes in the past, it's time to give them up!

In the past I've always purchased Lloyds for $13 from Sam's Club but thought I'd see if homemade was better.

Will you share?

So What Happened?

I tried MandA M's and it was VERY good.

Oh and I noticed it is Byron's not Lloyd's. I'm not even going to hazard to guess where I pulled that name from!

The best pulled pork is from a smoked Boston Butt or pork picnic roast. I suggest a recipe such as here: http://barbequelovers.com/recipes/pork-recipes/secrets-fo...

I also love a good cider vinegar mop throughout the process, which you can find here: http://www.meatwave.com/blog/barbecue-recipe-big-bob-gibs...

There are a ton of great pork butt and shoulder recipes out there. If you have access to a smoker, don't do it in the crock pot. A smoked pork butt is totally worth the effort.

ETA: My personal opinion is that Lloyd's is GROSS. But I don't like my pulled pork "wet" (with sauce mixed in). It like it smoked, dry, and flavored by the mop sauce. YUM!

I put the pork in a crock pot with root beer as the liquid. Once it's cooked I drain the root beer and shred the pork. We use Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce and also add in garlic powder and onion powder. Let it warm through and done. So easy and SO good.

Pork roast + 1-2 cans of Cherry Coke (or cola of choice)
roast on low 8 hours.
Shred.
Add BBQ sauce of choice.

Delicious.

Also delicious without the BBQ sauce. The soda sweetens the roast nicely without being overpowering.

Pulled pork is SUPER easy if you have a crockpot. I use pork shoulder (I think the cut is called Pork Butt, but it's not actually the rear end of the pig). Throw it into the crockpot (I don't season it or anything) and put it on low for 8 - 10 hours. Shred it, remove some of the liquid that's accumulated and mix in whatever BBQ sauce you like (or use a homemade BBQ sauce if you've got a great one). Then throw it on a roll with some coleslaw or broccoli slaw and you've got yourself a great sandwich. The key, of course, is to find or make that killer BBQ sauce...and that comes down to individual taste. Happy eating!

Buy a whole pork butt, hand it to husband. He takes it outside and 8 hours later he brings in pulled pork.

He smokes it if that isn't obvious.

This is one of my family's favorite recipe. It is so easy..
I purchase a pork roast when they are on sale. No need to purchase an expensive cut.

I use my crockpot with a Reynolds Wrap crock pot liner.

Grate 3 carrots into the bottom of the bag in the crock pot. Slice up a large white onion, place in bottom of bag. (Add pods of garlic if you want.) Salt and pepper the roast, place on top of the vegetables. Add 1/4 cup of water, cover and heat on low for 6 to 8 hours.

When it is cooked, use to forks to shred the cooked pork. You can add your favorite BBQ sauce and serve on hamburger buns or just use the pork as it is to make Cuban Sandwiches. sandwiches! To make the Cuban Sandwiches, use a Kaiser type bun, with sliced dill pickles and raw white onion slices. Delicious!

*Sometimes, I may add a bit of "Liquid smoke" at the beginning of the cooking to give it a smoked flavor.. totally optional.

Crock pot. Pork butt. McCormick's slow cooker BBQ spice packet! The packet directs you how much vinegar, brown sugar and tomato sauce or ketchup to add. I love it because it's a good mix of spicy and sweet and you can adjust the vinegar and sugar yourself the way you like it, as well as adjusting how wet or dry the pork comes out.

Not all stores carry the McCormick brand, and those that do don't always carry the spice packets (these are paper packets for specific things like slow cooker BBQ, beef roast, etc.). If your store carries them, try it. I don't like bottled BBQ sauces since they always taste kind of chemical to me, or are too hot or too sweet etc. But that's me....

If you put a Boston butt or shoulder roast in the crockpot for 8-10 hours with Root Beer (12 ounces per every two pounds of meat) and just let it cook, it comes out very tender and moist. Just remove it from the liquid, shred it with a fork, and add the BBQ sauce of your choice. I've gotten huge compliments from everyone who's had this recipe. Most liked it better than restaurant or store bought pulled pork.

This is chicken rather than pork, but it would work with pork. I just threw it together a couple of days ago and the whole family loved it!

I just put 4 boneless/skinless chicken breasts in the crockpot with a jar of Kraft honey BBQ sauce. Then I added pepper and cooked it on high for 5 hours. It fell apart easily - so tender!

I buy the "boneless country style ribs) when Winn Dixie has them BOGO.
Put them in the crock pot heavily coated with my homemade barbecue sauce - ketchup, Creole brown mustard, honey, Worchestershire, and Tabasco (don't ask me how much - I taste as I go until it's where I want it). Add diced onion, bell, pepper, celery, and Granny Smith apple. Cook on low until pork can be shredded with two forks.

I do NOT like Lloyds. I DO LIKE A LOT the Jack Daniels Pulled Pork. I could eat it all day for every meal. I brown my buns on a cast iron griddle and just put a touch of real butter on them so they brown nicely.

I do the same as Laurie A. (I may have got the recipe from her.) We use Sweet Baby Ray's as our sauce of choice. It's one of my kids' favorites.
