hello everyone and thank you for any advice! my daughter just turned three and we are in the middle of trying to make the transition to the potty. it has been a very rocky road so far but now we are trying out training underwear at home. my question is what to do when we go out in public? i know people are doing it...but how??? i think she is too little yet to fit on a regular potty and forget about me holding her over it because its hard enough to get her to sit on her little one at home. plus she touches every thing! ewww. i just bought diego seat covers and purse sized lysol so im all set with that i hope. does anyone just take a portable potty around with them? now she is wearing pullups when we go out which is just like going back to diapers and is confusing to her. i want to take her out in undies but im scared of how to get her to the potty when she learns to go. its hard enough getting her interested at home. i started introducing the potty at 18 months because of info i got at the doctors office that suggested it. now i regret that because i think i started too early and it has made the process long and difficult. a lot of the time she screams and runs away when i ask her if she wants to potty. even with the m and m reward. if anyone has any advice or ideas for at home or on the go potty training please share! thank you everyone and have a great day=) jennifer

I use a fold up potty seat cover. It fits on top of a regular toilet seat and reduces the size to make it child size. It came with a plastic bag and when that wore out, I switch to a gallon size zip lock bag. It stays in the car and I have little purse like bag that I drop it in when we go out.

We carry a potty chair along with small powder scented plastic bags to line it with in the back of our van at all times. It has come in handy at the neighborhood playgrounds as well as for long trips. Especially long trips. It never fails 5 minutes after a rest stop my 4 year old daughter will say, "Mommy I have to go potty". So instead of looking for a place to stop we just unbuckle her from her car seat and set her on the potty. When she is done I just tie up the bag and dispose of it in a trash can at our next stop. Don't worry your daughter will stop touching everything in the public restrooms soon.

Hope this helps.

I feel your pain on this one. I have germ issues and am dreading the day that my 14 month old son starts to use public restroom potties. There is a folding potty seat with handles that can be purchased at http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId.... The cost is $12.95 which seems reasonable to me. It sounds like the potty seat cover that one of the other moms suggested. I thought it might be helpful to know where one can be purchased. Hope this helps.
