Psychologist Recommendation

Hi, D.. When I searched for a psycologist, I just started calling everyone on my plan. Some of them did not specialize in my son's age and were crossed off the list immediately. Ask lots of questions and just interview them over the phone. My first consultation was free, so that also gives you a chance to feel them out and see what you think of them. Your child will give you an idea, too. My son loves to go to his and does not feel stressed at all. She does play therapy, so it is not threatening to him at all. My husband is a "counselor in training" with his Master's Degree in counseling. He works for the Kansas City Free Health Clinic. He said that you could call them (KC Free) to see if you would qualify to see someone there. Since you have insurance, you may not qualify, but it's worth asking. Their phone number is: ###-###-####. I don't know where you are but if you are in Wyandotte County the go to the Wyandotte Center it is near Indian Springs Mall.
If you are in Johnson County then try Crittendon it is based through Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
I have heard good things about both and both do services for children.

Catholic Charities has a counseling office on 87th and Farley in Overland Park. We will try to utilize your out of network benefits if we are not in network and we also have a Sliding Fee Scale. ###-###-####.
