a few ounces of pedialite is what my pediatrician recommended to me when my daughter was sick. Since she is still to young to eat any binding foods it is probably your best bet. Good luck!
My three month old daughter has had diarrhea for the past 30 hours now, at least 12 episodes. The pediatrician doesn't want to see her because she is pleasant and does not have a fever.
Have any of you used probiotics in a baby this young and if so what kind did you use and did you find it effective?
Thanks for any input.
Thanks for the advice. My ped's office did not respond well to my questions about probiotics, they want the diarrhea to run it's course. My poor little one's bum was what suffered! She is doing well now, after 6 days of diarrhea, and thanks to triple paste her bottom is healing too. I just wish the docs were more receptive to combating the problem instead of waiting it out. Thanks again.

Have you tried to give her mushed up real bananas or even pedialite? She may seem too little but it happened to my daughter once and I did whatever I could to bind her up and those both worked. Even the watered down gatorade if she/he doesn't like the pedialite.
I myself take a probiotic everyday but do not know how to dose for small children. I know it is very important to replace the good bacteria. I would ask the ped about it. It is more of a homeopathic cure so some regular docs don't prescribe it. www.livegreeneasy.com
I am new to this site, but had to respond to your question. I have a 9 month old baby boy. He has been taking probiotics since he was about 4 months old. It good for so many things. The most important is to boost his and anyone's immune system. Everyone should be taking a probiotic. So many diseases start from the colon. He has not had an ear infection or cold as of yet. Just a runny nose from teething:(
