Private Swim Lesson for a 4 y.o. and 5 y.o. Boy in Carrollton

I'm having a hard time finding private swim instructors. I have 2 boys, we have a pool and also have access to a community pool. My 5 yo had a hard time with the large classes at the Carrollton rec center, so I wanted to try private. Does any one know someone, even a teen who has done swim teaching and lifeguarding?

Rachael Bellamy is a Red Cross certified WSI (water safety instructor) and has literally traught hundreds of children to swim. She is currently the Director of Learn to Swim program at Mountain View college as well as at the Jewish Community center in Dallas. She offers private lessons. I highly recommend her. ###-###-####

There is a really great guy on staff at my church who will be teaching my 3 1/2 year-old and 2 year-old boys this summer. My oldest didn't do well with group lessons either. I'm excited about Matt teaching them. He taught swim lessons for 10 years to people ranging in ages from 2 to adults.

His name is Matt Gibert (say with a french accent....that's how it is pronounced!) He can be reached during the week at Fellowship Dallas, ###-###-####.

Good luck!

If you can't find a private instructor, Emler Swin School in Plano keeps the classes down to a maximum of 4 students. My 6yr old son is almost finished with his 1st semester of lessons, and absolutely loves it. They will be starting their new semester the 2nd week of June, and also offer summer camps.

Go back to the Y and ask the swimming instructors if they'll come to your home.

If you don't mind driving down to SMU, they have an excellent swim program there and private lessons. We just finished up our private lessons a couple of weeks ago. They schedule them at your convenience! Highly recommend.

I was looking for a private instructor and someone recommended a private instructor named Bev. This was tailored to my Son but she teaches up to 6 year old children. Below is the info I got from her:

We teach kids (infant, toddlers, and young children) from 6 mo. to 6 years., to swim, and to immediately roll to their backs to breathe and rest, then to swim again to the side or step, and to do this if they accidentally fall into the water. Lessons are one: one, individually conducted with you and your child (we use the parent to get the child comfortable with the teacher) , 4 times weekly, for about 10 minutes a day until the child can perform all these skills by himself. You schedule your own time based on availability. I teach at 2 different pools; my home near Forest and Hillcrest, and at TI (Texins Activity Center) at LBJ and Central. Our experience has shown that children learn best by learning a skill and repeating it over and over multiple times until they have mastered it. It is a much better way for them to learn than once weekly lessons, even if they last longer per time. Lessons cost $75 per week with a one-time, registration of $35. Thanks, and check out our website: infantaquatics.com for more information.

Suzannah did you know that Rosemeade offers private lessons as well? You might try that. My son was similar to yours and he did great with the private lesson vs. their group. Matter of fact we are doing it again.

Another idea is to call the CFBISD natatorium. I have heard they have swim team members that do lessons during the summer.
