Hello Moms,
I am trying to do all of my research before deciding where to send my daughter to kindergarten next year. Our neighborhood school is not one of the best. Does anyone have any recommendations for local private schools? Do you have any schools that you would not recommend? Thank you very much in advance. I am a bit overwhelmed by the whole process. We are a military family and will probably be moving after her year in kindergarten.

What can I do next?

Are you looking for religious or not? My friends brother went to Accotink Academy & they were all happy with it. Another friend sent her son & he's currently going to a catholic school off Bradfock Rd. trying to remember the name... I think its Holy Spirit. Also we loved Immanuel Christian School on Baclick Rd. Are tou sure the local school isnt good? Check out www.greatschools.org for a school's rating & test score info etc. Look's can be deceiving.
Good Luck,
Pammy

If you're Catholic, you should definitely check out Angelus Academy! They recently became affiliated with the Diocese of Arlington, and moved into a new building this year. They follow E.D. Hirsch's "Core Knowledge Curriculum". Lots of current and former military families. They're small, but have a very strong community feeling. If you're not Catholic, they are most likely not for you, though.

Best of luck as you wade through all your options!

Not familiar with schools in your area-all I know to be true, is that private schools are superior to public schools-my five children attended both-and the public schools they attended were in the number one school district in the U.S. with schools that were blue ribbon schools-upshot is-the best public schools are not even good enough for a child to waste one year-especially kindergarten.
