Any idea how to come up with a price for Craigslist? I searched and there is only one item like mine. Is there like an unwritten rule like50% off retail or something like that? I realize a lot has to do with condition ect, but for those o. f you who have sold or bought a bigger ticket item, how do u price it? I am not trying to solicit buyers. Am I allowed to ask for advice forp a specific item ie what is a good price for a 2008, gr/eat condition _______________.

So What Happened?

I want to sell my 2008 chicco cortina stroller. I have the car seat too, but we are still using it. THe stroller is in great condition. On our local Cl there is one for $75, all others have the car seat with it. New the stroller is around $150ish. I don't want to price it too low. Honestly, I'd rather hang onto it, but my husband says one has to go. What would you price it at?

I typically look at how much the product (exact same yr, make & model) costs brand new. Then I consider both, how much it was used and how long it was owned. That gets me to a base price. After that for competiveness, I compare that price with other posts and price it accordingly.

Send me a private message if you want. I've sold and bought alot of stuff on craigslist. If it's a car, look at bluebook. If it's a baby item, or household item, I can give you good advice. I have found it depends on a) the condition of the item b) how popular the item is c) how many others like it there are for sale d) how quickly you want it to go and e) how populace of an area you're in. If you want to, message me the details of what you want to sell, what it goes for new and what you'd like to get for it. :-)

No pricing guidelines on Craigslist.
You get more than a garage sale when you sell on Craigslist but you don't want to over-price your items either.

Price to sell.

Don't be greedy.

Post the item & price. If you don't get a hit in a week, think about lowering the price.

If you have any friends that frequent Craigslist, ask their opinion on the
proposed price of the item you are selling.

Just price w/in reason.

I also check the newspapers for similar items when pricing things. You can always highball it and then say you are willing to negotiate.

google the item to see how much its selling for....if you want to be aggressive then price it a few hundred below others

have you ever tried selling on bookoo.com, it's like craigslist but better

I just sold my graco travel system for $40. It was from 2008. I listed it for $50 and said price was negotiable. I paid $180 for it. Was very clean and great condition. It was pink though and i got tired of pushing my baby boy in it. lol I bought him a boy stroller for $50 so i figure i only paid 10 bucks for it.

So vehicles may be different....but I have learned that you don't get what you feel the item is generally worth because you remember how much you paid for it, etc. Ppl use CriagsList for a really good deal, so I think I'd generally assume you're going to get far less than 50% of what you paid for something unless you are selling something brand new/never opened. But I think if it's used, I would expect less. It's hard to say without knowing what you are selling.

it depends on the condition of the item, personally I always price it to sell...I would rather have the cash on hand then be stuck storing something I do not need. Good luck= )
