Hello for the last few months I have been having pressure in my butt it seems like it happens a week or two before my period. It's mostly happening when I'm standing up when I sit down it eases the pressure.

What can I do next?

could be hemorrhoids. blockage. cysts. prolapse. cancer. constipation. flying monkeys.
after months of this, a doctor is probably a better bet for a useful answer, no?

Sounds like a prolapsed uterus.
If your insides are falling down you're going to have bladder issues and other problems.
Non surgical treatment will involve a pessary to help hold your insides up.
Surgical treatment might be able to lift your uterus up but sometimes a hysterectomy is needed.
See a doctor and find out whats going on.

welcome to mamapedia!

What does your doctor say?
Have you been checked for hemorrhoids?
Have you been checked for rectocil?
HOW OLD ARE YOU?
How many live births have you had?

You REALLY need to see a doctor.

I had something like this going on when my first child was almost 2 years old. I started an office job and was sitting a lot, and started getting the feeling (no better way to say this!) like my butt was falling out of...my butt? Weird. I asked my GP, she said to ask my gyno. My gyno did an exam and said I had very mild uterine prolapse going on. She was not worried about it. I did a lot of kegels and this actually really helped. I have not had the symptoms since then, and I have had a second child.

Well, this could be anything from hemorrhoids to basic pressure caused from the build up of your uterine lining. It could also be a sign of something like endometriosis which is when implants of endometrial tissue go outside the uterus. These implants are still affected by hormonal changes which is why it may be cyclical. All of these things would need further testing to determine if you have them or not.

I'm going to take a chance that this is a real question. I think that perhaps you might try eating prunes or drinking prune juice when this happens to see if you might be constipated during this time in your "cycle". That could be the origin of your problem.

If that doesn't fix it, I think you find a gastroenterologist and have a colonoscopy done. There are several warning signs for colon cancer, and even though most people don't have to worry about getting tested until they are 50 years old, there's a segment of people who end up with colon cancer much earlier. Colon cancer is one of the easiest cancers to prevent because the polyps are usually slow growing.

Go to your doctor and tell him or her that you want a referral. Just do it.

There's really not enough information here to be of help.

Can you add more details about the type of pain? And if it's gone on for 2 weeks, I assume you have called your doctor. What advice did you receive, what questions did the doctor ask, what have you tried (besides sitting down)? Please edit your question and put in a lot more details that will help us.
