I just realized you accessed the public preschool. 204 has a fantastic preschool and special ed program. Good luck
My 3 1/2 yr old has Tourette Syndrome with sensory processing disorder and ADHD (fun combo, eh?) We've been struggling to find an appropriate preschool for him, even if it's just an hour a day, so that he can develop his social skills. Does anybody have any recommendations for a school with experience dealing with children with special needs? I haven't had much success.
Thank you everybody. We are in the 204 district, and since I've heard so many great things about Prairie Children Preschool, we will look into it.

Check with your school district. They probably have a spec. Ed preschool program. If not, and he qualifies (which it sounds like he should) then they have to find an appropriate spot for him. Has he gotten any services already? If so, the therapists should be able to help as well. Good luck! I am working on getting my 2 1/2 yr. old screened so she can start when she turns three.
My son is special needs. He is 4. He goes to Hope Wall. I dont know if they will take kids from Naperville, but I am thinking they would. If you are interested, let me know. We are thinking my son has autism and he is under tests and eval right now for it. WE just had an MRI done today under sedation. You can also do a search. Do Hope D. Wall school in Aurora. We absolutely love it there. He has gone since right when he turned 3 so 6 wks the year before last, all year last year and then this year. We really love it.

Hi, Call your local public school district. We're in Oswego & they are great! We have an early intervention preschool. It's for kids with special needs. My son goes for 1 hr/week just for speech, but my nephew goes 4 days a week 2 1/2 hrs/day in Batavia. School bus service is provided too. They always have a driver & an assistant to help with the kids. I believe that there is a law that public schools are required to provide services for kids 3+. ALL the teachers and staff I have met are awesome! They WANT to be working with our kids. I hope that helps some. Julie
Hi Amanda! I agree with everyone else...call your school district! I am a special education teacher and every district is required to have an Early Childhood program with certified teachers to service the wee ones! Naperville has a fantastic school district! It is free...use it!
I agree with all the others so far... contact the public school district. We're in Bolingbrook and my oldest is 4 and is going to preschool at the Early Childhood Center through our school district. The teachers and staff are wonderful. He goes 4-5 days a week 2.5 hrs a day and has been going since the day he turned 3. He gets his therapy services while at school.
All public school are required to offer services for specilal needs kids. Please do contact them, they will work with you in getting together soemthing called an EIP for your child to assess what he/she needs in school.
My son is developmentally delayed, we live in Chicago. I am thinking of sending him to private preschool. But, since he is trached and vented while he sleeps he needs a nurse. There is a "preschool" persay, it is actually a center for developemntally delayed kids therapy, called City Kids, Inc. You can check them out but they are pretty far from you. I think they have a website as well.
I'm not sure what school district you're in but Naperville 204 has excellent program for kids with special needs. The school is called Prairie Children Preschool. ###-###-####. That's a huge reason we moved into the school district and plan to stay here a long time. Our son has speech and developmental delays and have been working with him since he was 3 (he's 6 now). good luck!
You need to contact your school district, Naperville has a great program for Early CHildhood... and its free AND since it is public they can be bused if needed!! EC is a FABULOUS program adn the teachers are all trained and educated to deal with special needs kids!!
My son is a type 1 diabetic and we had a hard time finding preschools that were willing to take on the responsibility of the disease. When we asked if they would test his blood sugar and help administer insulin when he received a snack, most answers were "we can't do that", "he could go home early every day",or "you could come in". We found Wheatland Salem Christian Academy in Naperville to be more than willing to take on the disease and its management. I was so impressed by their dedication to my son and his right to be able to attend preschool just like every other child. I would highly recommend looking into them.
