we have our son at charter oak day school. he's going to be 1 in 2 weeks and he's been there since he was 10 weeks old. he loves it and we love it. it's very affordable from the research i did when trying to find a place. my husband and i both work full time so we needed a place that had long hours available and that we could afford. the teachers are wonderful and when we walk in, my little guy just beams and can't wait to go and play with the other children. it's at the corner of cienega and bonnie cove.

if you'd like more info i'd be happy to tell you all about the center.

Covina Christian Preschool in Covina is a wonderful school. The teachers are very attentive and loving, plus the educational program is great.

While I can't give you any specific names of preschools in the area (I work at a preschool in Glendora, it's fantastic), I can give you some hints about how to hunt for preschools.

Mostly, parents look at price and location, and while I agree those two things are important, the main thing you want is comfort. How comfortable do you feel leaving your child here? Was your first impression good? Do you like the staff? I have worked in great preschools, not-so-great preschools and have realized that parents have great gut instincts about these kinds of things, listen to them.

When you go for a tour, ask the director if you can spend some time just watching the teachers at work, try to get it so that the teachers do not know you are doing so (otherwise, all you will see is their BEST behavior). Do the children look happy? Do the teachers look happy? Bored? Angry?

Don't let the director impress you with all the bells and whistles preschools have to offer, keep your eyes and ears open the whole walk-through. (And watch out for KinderCare, I have found they are not always the best.)

My two boys went to a private family style daycare in West Covina. It is Ochoa Family Daycare, they are just off of Workman Ave, between Lark Ellen and Vincent. Laura is the mom, Joe is the dad and thay have two (now) elementary school boys. Laura was fantastic!! She helped my boys with potty training, trying new foods, reading writing and so much more. Her backyard is set up for the kids to ride trikes, swing paint and much more. Laura cooked breakfast, lunch and snacks. When Joe would get home in the early afternoons, he would play with the kids and help do 'outside exploring'. They really loved it there and I felt great leaving them. They were like family by the time my boys were ready to move on. The boys still talk about her!
