Hi,
My husband and I are considering moving to Wilmington-we live in CT- and we may be moving quicker than we had originally anticipated( in the next couple of months). My daughter is in her first year of pre-school here, she goes 2 mornings a week, and was set to go to the same school in the falll 3 mornings a week. My question is if we move can anyone recommend a school that still has openings for the fall for 4 year olds? I'd like to keep her on the schedule we anticipated- 3 mornings a week. Any advice would be sooo helpful... I'm nervous that everything seems to be happening so quickley and I don;'t know anyone in the area!!

What can I do next?

I have a friend whose 5 year old daughter goes to Sandpiper. They have 2 locations. I have been very impressed with what Sandpiper has taught this little girl. Here is the contact info for the Southport location: Little Sandpipers' Learning Center 2 1433 N Howe St, Southport, NC ###-###-####.

If you need any information regarding relocation, I am a local Realtor who moved here from NH. My husband is a CT native. Moving to this area was the best move we ever could have made! I would be happy to help you relocate to 'paradise'.

You have lots of options, many of the church preschools and private preschools will have openings. Wilmington is a laid back community with out the "one " place. You wil be able to find a school in your area when you come. One thiing to think about is most four year olds go 5 days a week so keep an open mind when looking.Good luck with your move.

Hi D.,

I am a single mom with 2 boys, 8 and 6. We live in Wilmington, and it is a wonderful place to raise a family! My oldest went to a preschool at a church in Castle Hayne (just outside of Wilmington) and was 3 mornings a week from 8-1130 (if I remember correctly). My youngest went to Myrtle Grove Christian School pre-school last year. 3 days a week from 8:15-12:15 (or so). They have different schedules available at different pre-schools with either 2 day, 3 day or 5 days available. Most offer choices. My guys are both in public school now and are doing well. Depending on the area of Wilmington, the public schools are good. I wish you the best in your anticipated move! If I can be of any assistance, just let me know. My family has lived here since 1979 after we migrated from the frozen North!

Welcome to Wilmington! My children have been attending Scotts Hill Christian Academy. My son and oldest daughter both attended for 2 yrs (3 and 4 yr old classes) my daughter is there now going 3 days a week. In the last newsletter they did say there were still openings for next year. Do you know what area of Wilmington you are moving to because the school is actually in Pender county (Wilmington is in New Hanover) but it is right on the county edge. If this area would work for you I'd be happy to give you name and number to contact. Let me know if I can help you! J.

I live in Wilmington (moved here over 2 years ago) and found out last year all about the preschool situation here. Most schools-at least the better ones, have waiting lists and some are for years! Trying to find a preschool for a 4 year old may prove to be difficult because everyone wants to send their child when they are four. Most schools had registration already in January but if I were you, I would research online the names of some schools in the area and start making some calls. Do you know what part of Wilmington you will be living in? If so, I would be more than happy to provide you with some names and numbers of preschools in that area. Good luck!
